I hit the right side of my front bumper (to the right of the headlight) while parallel parking (damn the Brooklyn streets) and have a nice scratchy dent. The bumper isn't broken, only dented.
I've received several quotes from repair shops. One said that the bumper HAD to be replaced (due to the material...and are charging $800 including labor) because no other work will leave it looking the same as new. Another offered to heat the bumper and press out the dent for $150. And the third would do the same for $80.
What's the truth here? Who is the scheister? Does the first guy just want to do the most expensive repair? Or are the other two unrealistically offering to do work that will leave me really dissatisfied because nothing short of replacement will really work?
That's it.:3: |

| go for the cheapest, if it doesn't look that good, then get a full bra. |

| Try going for the cheapest first and see if the repair place will allow you to apply the $80 or $150 to a replacement in case you're not satisfied with the results. |

A car park attendant in Naples Florida poked a pickup truck's tow mount into the nose of my front bumper 2 weeks ago and left a golf ball sized dent, Fortunately, I got all of the info and the parking company fessed up to the deed.
Wow!! The next (hot) day I drove back home to Ft. Lauderdale along Alligator Alley and when I had time to take a really good look for scratches and other damage, the dent was GONE!
Two weeks later, it still looks perfect.
Heat, man, go for the HEAT!
ps. I called the parking lot manager and told him about our good luck and we both had a laugh.
