Does your Dealer Offer a loaner car for service? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Just called my dealer - Tustin Acura, orange county, CA, for my 7500 service and asked for a loaner car. Found out, they don't offer any loaner car for any service performed there. They said: Acura Dealers are not required by Acura to provide loaner car service to their customers, but they do provide shuttle service. (Yeh, my Honda dealer provides that too) I was very disappointed by the fact that a luxury division like Acura do things like that.

OK I just voted and am the only one so far - you got to at least vote in your own poll.
hammermdx
Acura of Westchester does.
DaleB
I used to get a Lincoln Town Car for $15/day when we got our old Villager serviced. Or the shuttle ride.

I think most 'luxury' or psuedo luxury dealers don't feel obligated for less than 2 hours service.

I don't know. :8: I have never taken my MDX to the dealer (or any other mechanics, for that matter).

I do not trust any dealers' service departments, and so far I have been performing all routine maintenance myself.

My dealer (University Acura) does:29:
jswift2000
Devan Acura in Norwalk, CT does... I think they're TL's, CL's and maybe an RL.
mdxxxx
Yes... for service time exceeding 2hrs.

Yes, it is almost always a Honda of some sort, currently they are using CRV's.
DaleB
There could be a difference whether the servicing dealer is also the purchasing dealer. It has never been offered me, but I felt no obligation to ask either, as the appt.'s were relatively short.
mdefrances
Our X is serviced at Bell Acura in Phoenix. (They were not the purchasing dealer). When I call for a servicing appointment which lasts more than a few hours, they advise me of the days that loaners are available and I make the appointment with that in mind. Have had loaners two times so far (Acura TLs) and just made an appointment for next week (loaner provided).

Wow, I thought one can get a loaner car only if you bought from the repairing dealer.

So are you saying, I could buy my X a thousand miles away and still take it to get repaired around the block AND they would give me a loaner car??

Thats pretty good.

Yes, you can RESERVE a loaner if your service is scheduled to take over 2 hours. You get the loaner if it is available.

I got an awesome '03 TL-S, but it was almost out of gas and totally filthy! What a shame, that is an opportunity for dealers to get customers to check out a model they might not even consider, and after driving the loaner, you can change your mind. Our family will seriously consider an TL-S when we're in the market for a sedan. Too bad our dealer doesn't realize the impression a FILTHY loaner makes about them!
feliz
Yes, but an EL (glorified Civic).
JTM
YES...

Mostly either Integra or RSX. There are few TL as well. I am now wondering if TSX will be the loaner car now.

Pohanka Acura @ Chantilly, Virginia
mlkeller
Yes, at Continental Acura in Lisle, IL (soon to be Naperville...). All TLs, I believe...

my dealer does, too. they have enterprise rent car in the dealer.
they offered me a ford escort (not even escape) last time. so i complained about it to the dealer custom rep. he told the guy at the enterprise to upgrade my rent car to a bigger but another ugly chevy that i can even remember the name. it was one of those police vehicle (not caprice).

The last time I took my MDX into Pfleuger Acura in Honolulu, Hawaii, the service advisor set me up with a big a** Cadillac. Talk about bling and pimping. While I appreciated the loaner, I was sure glad to get back into my MDX. They even washed and vacuumed my MDX for free.:29:

Finally found Weir Canyon Acura at Yorba Linda, CA to have my 7500 miles service, they loaned me a pretty new RSX with a full tank of gas. I like the loaner, its semi-manual shift is fun to play with and it felts more agile than my V6 accord coupe.
capjand4
I just found out that you have to be 21 to have a loaner in NY State.
Unfortunately I had to have someone taking me across the street to a mall.

Put the TL-S in the shop for the 30K service and have a loaner for the day. John Eagle Acura in Houston only requires that I return it with the same amount of gas in it.
vicpai
They do give a loaner car. While my car was in the shop the first two times for the steering issue, they gave me an RSX both times. However since the problem is still unresolved, the manager said he would make sure they put me in a TL!! I've been driving around in the TL for the last 10 days  while they're trying to diagnose and get to the bottom of the "partial loss of power steering assist"

On the contrary, SOUTH BAY ACURA IN TORRANCE, CA is the Worst STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP LIKE IT'S THE PLAGUE. My car was in here 4 times for the same problem mentioned above which they did not make any effort to resolve  and every time it was with them for 3+ days and they said it's their policy that they do not give any loaners at all :3:

Yes, but not an Acura. The dealership has a rental car operation set up but does not charge a fee to those service customers who purchased the car from them. I looked really awesome driving a purple Dodge Neon!
My Volvo dealer also provides loaners, but in their case, I always get a new Volvo to drive ~ it's a good marketing tool on their part.

Same here. Except the seletions were little better than a Neon! They have minivans, SUVs, and sedans but none are Acura cars. Also got a free car wash.

The TSX is also a loaner car. I had my 2002 tl-s in for warranty work at Tischer Acura in Laurel, MD in July. I was given an RSX, but when I returned, my service advisor told me that if I had come about 30 minutes later, I could have driven the new TSX loaner that was delivered that same day(I did see the car).

Someone posted earlier about getting a TL loaner that was dirty and had no gas. I had that problem once, and I told my service advisor about it and received his apologies and a free oil change. If you are not satisfied with something, let them know! If you say nothing, you will get nothing. If you ask, you have a 50% chance of getting the result you are looking for.
kimsta
I got a corolla the first time I brought my X in. The second time I got a TL.
greatscot
Last time I went in (for 7500 maint.) they gave me an Integra. Now they are providing the TSX. :4:
Blackura
Had my choice of TL CL or RSX. Since I already have a TL (and CL is so similar) I went for the RSX. Fun car, good looking, even got compliments on it parking at Lowes, but the rear/side blind spot is huge.

After driving the MDX though, I feel like I'm sitting and inch off the pavement, especially driving between an Escalade on the left and a Navigator on the right.

I was hoping they'd loan me an NSX. :)

Saw a Ford Focus loaner from an Acura Dealer on the way to work - that sure should suck !!! my dealer however promised only Acuras when I do bring my car in - Cant wait to get to 7500.
KingBmdxFLIP22
Paul Epstein from Park Ave. Acura lends us his Cherokee, I want to drive an RSX though.
msu79gt82
I will be in a loaner tomorrow since the MDX has to go back to the shop for the SRS light:rolleyes:
RonH
Yes, and you're guaranteed another Acura .. even if they have to take it off the new car lot ... been done before.

Sweet!!

We're taking our X in for drivers seat rail replacement tomorrow (the shims didn't help the seat shift). I hope we get a TSX. They had just gotten them in the last time I was there, but they weren't registered yet.

Well, I'm driving the loaner now and it's an '03 TL, not the '04 TSX I was told would be available. :( It is DIRTY again! When I got in it at the dealership, I noticed pieces and parts of a pinecone in the passenger floor - looked like a bored kid pulled one apart.:rolleyes:The windows are nasty and apparently a smoker had it before me.:16: When I mentioned how dirty it was, one of the guys came out and picked up the pinecone pieces, but nothing else.

At least it has a full tank of gas, for once. That was a nice surprise!

So, eddiemac, you see some dealerships won't go the extra mile for customer satisfaction, even if you do bring it to their attention.

Was asked what I wanted, got a new 2003 TL-s this morning. :D

Catzx6, who did you talk to about the dirty loaner? I mentioned it to my service manager. If the person you talked to did not satisfy what you were looking for, take it to the next level, that person's boss. You said that you mentioned to them how dirty it was, but you did not say that you ASKED them for compensation for the inconvenience. how many Acura Dealers are in your area? If there are not too many, or only one, they may try to play hardball. Here in the DC area, there are seven to eight dealers. They may try a little harder for customer service, because they know that we can always go somewhere else.

I got an '03 RSX with 5K miles on it. It was sorta fun, stiffer than my vette, great brakes handled nice.

Triple7
3 loaners:

1st was a RSX
2nd was a CL
3rd was a TSX

I received a TL for the week that they had my MDX. I would have guessed it was 5 years old based on the general condition, wear & tear, and numerous rattles/noises. It turns out it was a 2002.

It goes in for another whole week to try and fix the problems in Dec. Hopefully, that loaner will be better.............

Got an '03 TSX for my recent 7500mile check up

I once got an RSX as a loaner too. It was actually very fun to drive. Pretty nimble!

Alternatively, when I took the MDX to a Honda dealer recently for 30K service, they gave me a 2000 accord for a loaner. The car ran fine, but the interior was completely FILTHY!! And I'm not being a snob (my X is not exactly pristine). The loaner's interior looked like it hadn't been cleaned out since 2000--- old McD's cups, sticky remnants of soda, a thick layer of dust on everything, etc. etc. I almost pulled over at a gas station to wipe it down with a wet towel. I was grateful to get anything, but you'd think they'd keep it suitable to sit in.

This is my first service call with a brand new 04 that I took delivery 3 days ago...had to bring it in to get the running boards installed.

They gave me a toyota echo with no power steering....they still make them like this!!!? Granted, it was Enterprise instead of the dealer that gave it to me.....but no power steering? They wanted $10 from me to get power steering :-(
msu79gt82
... that had 2 miles on it when I took it:1:

droped the X off this morning for 15K, got a new 2005 TL with navi for the day! :D :D :2: :D :D

Acura West in Maryland does. The key is to get to be buddies with the service writers, then they are more willing to offer you the "nicer" loaner car.

We had our 03 X in for service for over a week and were given a brand-new TL to drive.
HARDROCK
I've never been offered a loaner when my X has been in for service (except that time they gave me a TSX when putting in a new transmission...). When I got a survey call from the dealer group quality control company this morning, they seemed very interested when I told them there was this poll on the web that stated "80% of dealers give loaner cars when leaving your X for service" and that next time I purchase, I'm going to buy from one of those dealers!

POWER ACURA SOUTH BAY - are you listening? :behead: :trustme:
Echo2625
Park Acura in Akron, Ohio does supply a loaner.

Park is an awesome overall dealer!
Dr. Ken
My dealer, Acura of Seattle, not only offers free loaner cars whenever you need it, but they are located across the street from a major shopping mall, which makes the need for a loaner moot many times. They also have shuttle service.

Mine is in for service today, I got shuttled to work in a 2005 MDX.

My dealer in El Paso only offeres loaner cars if the repair is more than 3 hours long. My dealer in San Diego uses Hertz rental car service. Which I had to pay to upgrade from a compact car to a normal size vehicle.
jowardb
Had my first "free" oil change and installation of moon roof visor 2 weeks ago and got a 04EL.
