Are you going to carrying any accessories for the Acura MDX?

Thanks for your reply,

Sean

WOOHOO!
Do you really want to put a metal grill on your Acura? I know they make excellent front grills and all that, but I'm not sure how appropriate that would look on the MDX. Just my opinion though. Did they tell you any specifics on the accessories they're designing, or do they mean the traditional type of metal grills?
WAAG (http://www.waag.com) makes the best shape-conforming guards in the market. Their coating process is second to none, and they design their items to conform to the shape of the vehicle, not just be a boxy, bulky design. With the "protruding probiscus" (as Edmunds proclaimed it), I'd like a little extra protection, not jsut from others but from myself in my tight garage. And a reag bumper gaurd would be nice seeing as how the last three vehicles I've owned have been "cosmetically marred" by overactive rush hour drivers. And they bolt onto the frame, unusally through existing openings, so they could be removed for smoother look whenever wanted. Yes, I'm the freak that changes his shifter knob for different events!

Here's what they did for the Lexus RX300.

Now I have to be honest, I was going to say that the MDX would probably not look good with one of these, but.........but..........after seeing the Lexus RX300 with it..... I like it.

I think the MDX would probably look "mean" with that bad boy on it. Obviously a more sporty - offroad look....but I like it.

Keep us informed of when they are available, pictures, prices.

Well done !

That Lexus is SCREAMING, "Get outta my way !!!"
:D

have you guys ever looked at jaos? in my opinion i thought jaos look better. but dont think they have one out for our mdx yet. i'm planning just to get the center protection..

I just contacted Jaos. They stated "we don't have anything in the works. The car is too new." That's a shame because they do make a nice product. I'm just not sure I want to wait a year for it.
Nice site !

Did you guys take a look at the DEMO for sale on that site?

No, that's exactly what I don't want...a RICE SUV. I want a tough-yet-stylish luxury SUV. I'd give them $10K for it...that's what it looks like it's worth. They forgot the curb-feelers!
Ruff crowd..........

Just admiring.

No way A4L! Putting bumber guards on a 40K Luxy SUV is about the same as putting Breast Implants in a 90 year old lady. It just don't fit.

On the other hand, I know some of you like it but there's few things uglier than a "bald" MDX.
I somewhat agree with dancall on this one. I think I will stick with the lower trim. I'll be ordering one from Tim Monday.

MDXtra-

I have installed a Waag front grill on my friend's Nissan Xterra. I would highly recommend Waag over other brands. He bought one that was finished in silver that exactly matched the factory roof racks on Nissan. A perfect fit too. Some people have said that "grill on the frame design" is not good since it can damage your frames in minor accidents, but this never bothered me. I really think grills are more for looks than anything else. Same goes for lower trims, but personally, I think it looks better on the MDX. When you do get more info on the grills, let us know : )

-off topic-
Dancall -- How old is Carol Doda these days, anyway?

-on topic-
I like the rugged look on most of the truck-based suv's (Nissan, Toyota, Jeep, Rover) but it somehow these designs are a bit much on the MDX; something a little more subtle would work. More of a suburban assault vehicle look would be good.

Did you follow that link and actually see it?

How does price come into this? Toyota's new one has them and they start at $42K+ for base. If WAAG makes one for the Mercedes (they do), for the BMW, and the Lamborghini, will you change your mind?

I like the look, I like the fact that it could be put on or removed in about 30 minutes, and if you ask Tim how much it costs to replace that back bumper, you might consider at least protecting it some. The TL one I had to have fixed ran over $600. And that one was just a repair.

Yes I did follow the link. Here's how "price" comes into it:
unless you're on safari in the bush, the bars are completley non functional. I doubt seriously whether someone will take a 40k vehicle seriously off road unless it is built for it (like an Expedition). I do partially like the look of the bars but you will get laughed off the road by all the "real" SUV owners. I used to get a kick out of all the women in their business suits driving their Crystal Clean Landrover with push bars in downtown traffic.

I absolutely love my MDX but I am not in anyway trying to "hide" behind push bars to look tough. If you haven't figured it out by now, I don't give two poops about what anyone else thinks. Like I said before (IMHO) it's like putting a Football Helmet on a Ballerina. Maybe there's is something a little more subtle out there, perhaps?

Lasty, please understand that this is just my opinion. I even added a front nose mask to "toughen" the look up a little. I like it. I'll put it back on as soon as I can get to a garden hose to clean it off. If you get the Waag, I wanna see it! Have fun..
Hey to each their own. You have to realize I'm in Columbus. Have to keep those cows outta my way and off the paint job... ;)

Those bars will definitely keep the cows off your hood, and it'll then be fully functional too. I'm also curious as to how Waag grills will look on the MDX, so keep us posted when you get one. Are you getting a black one or silver? If they do make one in silver, I would definitely recommend it. Waag makes the best grills in my opinion.

I'm with you all the way on this one Dancall. I immediatley think of Rhinos and Elephants and then I really start laughing.

Right across the street from our local Acura dealer is a Rover dealership. Visit one if you get the chance - it's a hoot. They're not selling SUV's - they're selling safari wagons with the whole schtik. They won't even let you test drive one of theirs on the road until after you've gone over their specially built up and down boulder ramp and and when you talk accessories, they're right there with the WAAG and what-not.

If you want, you can even get decals of African endangered species for the side of your Serenghetti SUV. Just the thing for armchair adventurers!

LOL. MB-
Is it even possible to paint the lower trim so it looks like chrome?...or would this look impossibly cheesy? ((Probably a dumb question...stay tuned.)) :)
SORRY ALL....but I am with MDXtra on this one.

"Too each their own"

MDXtra: Keep me posted on the WAAG.

Hey A4L, I also agree with the "to each his own". I don't really have an issue with it, I just like to take a piss out of you guys every so often :;

(I'm still interested in what it looks like..)
There is a place called Kerr International that can do it, they're based in the Arizona if I recall correctly, and I found them on the web when I worked for Jaguar. They did some door handle bezels for an S-Type for me in gold (they were plastic), and the finish was perfect! Gonna cost you, though. Might be worth a look.
Thanks Tim!

Found their # and I'll check it out!
Now I get a customer service rep from WAAG writing me to say it's in development and should be out in June. Hopefully, they're just being a good rep and overestimating so the they look good when it's early!
