Can someone with a Helm manual give me the part number for the little clips that hold the speaker covers on the doors? When I changed out my speakers I noticed that the guy on the left side of the assembly line didn't put the clips on at all and the covers are just sort of hanging there. Missing four clips (two front and two back I think). All are on the right side, but none on left side at all.
I know I could take it to the dealer, etc., but I really don't want to explain that I replaced the speakers, and then convince them that it really wasn't me that took off the clips, etc. The clips can't be that expensive and I'll just order them and put them on if I can get the part number.
Bottom line... If anyone can provide the part number I'd appreciate it. They go on the flat prongs on the door speaker covers. They are metal and insert into the plastic door panel. They appear to all be the same.
Thanks in advance! |

| If it were me I'd just call the dealer. Tell them you noticed they were missing when you did your upgrade. For a few lousy clips the dealer will probably not give you any hassle. If they do you will learn something about your dealer. |

I know what you're saying, but I've been down this road before. If I tell the dealer I've changed the speakers they put it in the computer. Then if two years from now the stereo goes out, or the NAV breaks they say "it's because of those speakers you put in". Then the monkey is on my back to prove that what I did didn't cause the failure. Been there, done that. Don't want to go there again. They don't need to know I've changed the speakers.
For the $6 or $10, or whatever the clips cost I'll be much better off with the "dont ask, don't tell" policy. If the radio ever goes out the OEM speakers go back in before the car goes in for service. Maybe not the most honest thing in the world, but practical. |

Jay,
Thank you very much!!
Does anyone sell Acura parts online? I'm about 1 1/2 hours from a dealer. It would be easer to order online.
Thanks again. |

Honestly?
I would ask Tim at hondacuraworld.com. I personally haven't used him for anything yet as I just purchased my X a couple of weeks ago, but he seems to have great pricing for accessories and everyone here seems to like him. |

I knew he sold accessories, but I didn't know he sold parts. Will send him a message.
Thanks. |

I don't know either but I guess it's worth asking at the minimum. If he doesn't I'm sure someone here has recommendations.
Good Luck! |

You bring up a good point. It is very possible that a warranty coverage problem could come up if a problem with the stereo occurred on vehicle with upgraded speakers. The navi should not be an issue IMHO but Acura (or any manufacturer) could have a way out if a modified stereo failed.
To my knowledge no one here has experienced any problems requiring warranty repair with a upgraded speaker system but it will be interesting to see what happens if this occurs?
Is it going to be necessary to reinstall the OEM speakers before taking a failed stereo problem to the dealer? If so those that upgrade better hold on to the original speakers. |
