No A/C - Click HERE for Original Thread

Well, we have had our MDX one week--and into the shop it goes on Monday: No air conditioning!! Yes--we are in Texas and it was warm enogh today to warrant air conditioning.
Will keep you informed of the diagnosis!

Any other A/C problems out there??
We are in Houston, and have also needed the A/C on occasion already. No problems here--we just leave it on full auto, and it's perfect (whether it's a bone-chilling 40 degrees here :) or a balmy 80-degree Spring day). No muss, no fuss, and better than any climate control in any car we've ridden in with any regularity in the past.
... no problems with ours as of yet. We too are in Houston and have experienced no climate control issues in the almost two weeks we've had it.
Negative,
I'm in New Orleans, you know I need the air conditioning!
Full auto mode works great!

Sorry to hear about the AC problem- First one I'd heard about.

I won't regale you with how great mine works- when your's isn't working, you really don't care how rare it is.

(I can never undertand why doctors will stress how rare and unusual a particular malady is to a patient with the condition- who care? it is either bad luck, very bad luck or phenomenally bad luck)

Picked up my MDX (Mesa Beige/Touring/Navi in Pittsburgh... full auto was perfect... drove it South middle of March, thru very cold weather, and to Florida, in the 80's... so far, climate control is perfect!
Well don't feel alone MBTex. I took delivery on my GG in early Nov and have just now had an opportunity to turn on the AC -- GUESS what -- DON'T work. Please status me on what they found to be the problem. I'm bringing my in for the 7500 checkup soon and want to have them fix it.

Usually it's because it really is rare and unusual and it may be the first and only time that doctor will see such a condition firsthand or they're not sure how to treat it, so they say that as sort of an explanation of their lack of knowledge about the condition.

I also just set my auto climate to 70 degrees and have had no problems from 30 to 90 degree weather!

When you guys have the AC. on full auto mode, do any of you feel the truck weaken, sluggist? When i have mine on i feel very sluggish going up hill and overpass..
I don't notice any performance difference with a/c on or off.
Well I brought the MDX in for the 7500 mile check up. They said there was no refrigerant in the system so they put some dye in and checked for leaks (what exactly they checked I'm not sure). NO LEAKS found and the car held the charge over night so they professed problem solved. My question to the service writer was "how can there be no leaks when there was no refrigerant in the system" ANS: Maybe it never was charged to begin with! Now ... what does everyone think about that as a comforting answer? SO I've had the vehicle back now several days and the AC seems to be working fine. We will see -- I predict the problem isn't solved. Has anyone noticed the AC directed to the back seat seems to be cooler than that coming up front? I was wondering whether that might just be the fact the air is distributed more up front in that it comes from more than one vent. Any thoughts? Aren't there 2 separate systems (compressors?) one for the front one for the back?
The A/C system only has one compressor, but it has 2 evaporator coils. One in the dash and one below the console. No A/C system for automobiles use 2 compressors. I would have a hard time believing that the factory forgot to install the R134a in the system. My guess would be a leak, probably at the one of the shrader valves. If not there it would have to be at a connection point of the hoses. Wherever the leak is, with the electronic leak detectors available today they should be able to find the leak with out too much trouble. Sorry to hear you are having problems, the A/C in my Mesa Beige works great. The kids love to being able to control the tempature in the back!!
