Can someone tell me what the Pinouts for the RGB & Composite Sync signals are in the connector that hooks to the back of the Navi unit? I have a GEX-P7000 that I took out of my 02 MDX and am needing to install it in the 03, but the Navi screen connectors are different.

Also, does someone have the pinouts for the Rear Camera Connector on the back of the Navi unit?

Pinouts for the 20-pin connector on the '03 NAV:

Pin1 - white wire - Red color signal
Pin2 - red wire - Green color signal
Pin3 - brn/blk - Shield for pin 1,2,11,12,13
Pin11 - yellow - Blue color signal
Pin12 - green - Composite video (vert/horiz) Sync signal
Pin13 - Blue - Gnd signal for color?

If you need the others, let me know.

As for the rear camera... the signal comes into the nav unit as composite on a 6-pin connector. The signal is on the red/blu wire at pin 4. The shield is the grey wire at pin 5.

Composite to rgb conversion is done in the nav unit and output on the 20-pin connector as follows:

Pin08 - Blue - camera gnd signal
Pin09 - Red - camera green signal
Pin10 - brown - horiz/vert sync
Pin18 - grey - Shield for pins 8,9,10, 20
Pin19 - yellow - camera blue signal

I hope this helps... let us know the results!

This is awesome. I will let you know how it turns out and post pics.

About the camera pins. What pin triggers to turn the interface on for the camera? I assume the backup lights are what triggers the input to go active.

nota4re, are you sure about the nav computer doing the comp to rgb conversion? when i looked at the camera control unit details from a copy of the helm electrical troubleshooting manual i received from another member here, it looked like the camera control unit did the comp to rgb conversion. the description you used (6 pin connector, red/blu and grey for the composite signal) sounds like what is coming into the camera control unit from the rear camera and not into the nav comp. this is the same connector/wires that i tapped into for the rear camera comp signal but it is NOT on the nav computer. check out the page from the electronic trouble shooting manual below.

parkersmith, if you supply power +12V to pin C5 on the 8-pin connector (green/black wire) on the nav unit, it will trigger the reverse camera. you will either have to isolate it with a diode or use a relay so that the power you supply will not light up your reverse lights also.

You guys are great. Thanks for the replies. I just got my two new Vizualogic Headrests in and plan on starting my install tonight.

Has anyone successfully mad a switch to cut from the Reverse camera to DVD on demand? Looks very possible, but I plan on putting the GEX in between my Navi & Display so I can switch with a remote and also have multiple video sources and TV.

Nhatman,

Of course you are right... sorry for the mistake.

parkersmith, depending on how much money you want to spend, there are advantages and disadvantages in going with using a GEX or tapping into the rear camera system.

i went for the cheap way :)

the drawbacks in a nutshell is that i had to get to the rear camera control unit which can be a little scary without the helm service manual. the other drawback is that when you "fake" the reverse trigger switch, the gps nav system goes into "standby" mode. it basically still tries to track you but without the gps which means if you are moving and you've been watching tv/dvd/video using the reverse switch, when you switch back, the map will show you in some random spot and it may take up to a minute for it to correct itself.

if you plan on using the GEX, you won't need to "fake" the reverse switch. tap into the RGB video signals going into your nav screen using a relay and do the switching there. that way, you can watch tv/dvd/video and still have the gps nav system working in the background (good for when you still want to hear the voice nav directions). also good for when you want to the nav screen showing the map and the rear screens still showing the video/dvd.

nota4re, you scared me a bit there. had me doubting myself and looking at the diagrams again! i was actually really hoping that you were right and i was wrong. it would've made a lot of people's lives a lot simpler.
