On Mar. 28th I picked up my black/saddle, touring with nav. from Cerritos Acura in Cerrito. I ordered it in January. I will give my report on the dealer in the proper forum.
Today I drove down to Oceanside,Ca. and had the rims exchanged for ones that were chrome. $795 plus tax. Really smooth deal. They had a new set of Michelins put on their chrome rims so all I had to do was drive in and wait 20 minutes while they slapped them on. Nice guys. I could have had them chromed for $400 in LA area if I wanted to leave the vehicle for 5 days.

Today I ordered from Tim fender flares and rear deflector. Both are being sent painted black. Did you realize he was doing this? Also got cargo cover, burlwood knob, side steps and wood grain meter kit. Thinking about the wood-grain steering wheel but, I'm not sure about that. I find the stock wheel very comfortable to use. Anyone have any comments about the wood/plastic wheel?

I mentioned before that I have been driving an Infinity Q45 so this is really different for me. Got to say I really enjoyed the ride to Oceanside and back.

Everyone on this site has really been helpful. When I went into the dealer - I felt like I knew more than they did. In fact I did. Thanks to ucsdtriton for the heads up on the company that provided the chrome rims.
Cool Ranny, congrats! Now you'll have to do all the obligatory new-owner-on-the-site things - put up a picture of your black beauty and its new wheels, post your CD playlist, track your mileage, and drop a couple posts about wind noise. (I think MesaBeige outlined this drill a week or so ago).

Enjoy!!!
are you looking to add tv, dvd player in the truck?
Congrats rannyk on your new purchase.

I think you are going to love the car.

I didn't know that the fender flares can come in black.
Tim is great!!!

If you get a chance, can you post a picture of your mdx
after you put it on. I didn't get any for mine because
I wasn't too crazy about the color.

When we were car shopping, it came down to the Infinity I30 or the TL, and we went with the TL because it just had a sporty feel without losing the luxury. That, plus the fact that I'd radther be told I'm driving a Honda than a Nissan. ;)

Now I'm glad I made the choice again because nothing out there can touch the value, styling, and comfort of my new MDX!

Congrats on the latest addition to your family. I just got in from putting on a three coat application of Rain-x to mine!

Bought My wife a new TL in 99 with navi.
Best buy I have ever made in a car. $29,700 total.
It had all the amenities of my Q45 and was a lot quicker.

Once you go Acura, you'll never go back!

Let us know how the first weekend goes. I had over 300 miles from 10:oopm Thusday to 6:00am Monday! And not a doubt in my decision.

Instead of staring a new thread just to join the owners club, I'll piggy back on Rannyk's post.

Today I received my MDX (finally) and I am quite pleased :). I live in Upstate New York (Rochester) and we have the same 4-6 month wait up here. I called all the dealers in a 300 mile radius and the story was the same everywhere. Fortunately, the local dealer was selling at MSRP w/ no mandatory options. Unfortunately, the wait was 6 months.

So... I responded to the dealer Rick Case Acura's post on this forum in early March and placed my depost during the first week of March. I paid MSRP for a Touring/Navi w/ no accessories. The most frustraing part of the wait was that the vehicle was manufactured in Ontario, Canada which is about 3 hours away from my house. From there it took 15 days to make it to Florida and then I had to have it shipped from Florida back to Upstate, NY which took another 8 days (including the time it was at the dealers waiting pickup). Argh, the wait was rough.

Well, I can't complain too much since my total wait was less than a month from time of depost. I know many of you are waiting many more months. I understand the torture of waiting and wish you all good luck on a possible earlier ship date.

After reading about the wind noise and Bose stereo complaints on this site, I was a little nervous. I am very happy to report that I don't find the wind noise to be a problem at all, it is very slight and much less than any other SUV I have driven in (or my two other passenger Cars). Further, the Bose stereo is much better than any of my other vehicles and I feel it exceeded my expectations after reading all these posts. So perhaps I have to thank all the negative posts for lowering my expectations to the point that I think the Bose is very good.

Seriously, it isn't the best thing I have ever heard but it is better than every other car I owned. Although, when it was shipped the fader was set to the rear and the balance was set to the right speaker. At first I was a little worried, but after I got that straightened out it sounded much better.

Thanks to everyone and Tim at http://www.hondaacuraworld.com. I was able to determine which accessories were the most important and desireable based on the users on this board, and learned that Tim's prices were the best. I didn't get any accessories from Rick Case Acura other than the ones that were thrown in for free. They provided the wheel locks and all season floor mats for free.

So far no thud, or 4/5 button problems. I had them, and the seatbelt harness specifically checked out before shipment from the dealer to me. I also asked them too look into the mirror leak issue but they said there is no official tech bulletin out from Acura yet on this. I haven't washed the MDX yet so I don't know if anything was done during manufacture to improve this. The manufacturer date was around 3/5/01. The VIN ends in 520XXX. I doubt they have made any changes yet.

This is my first Acura too, so I look forward to the "promise" of a reliable vehicle.

In closing, I have to agree, Navi rules! :D When I test drove the MDX at the Rochester dealership, they didn't have a Navi model. Therefore, I purchased the unit w/ navi on faith based on this board (although I did have the Flordia dealer confirm that there was coverage up here. The Acura web site doesn't clearly state if there is coverage or not). I am very impressed with how accurate it is when you are coming up on intersections. It is more accurate than I thought it would be.

RochesterMDX,
Since some others in the forum might consider buying a MDX elsewhere and having it shipped (one alledged lingerie model impatiently waiting for hers comes to mind  ), how much did it cost you? Also, other than delays, were there any other hassles associated with the vehicle shipping?
It cost $630 to have it shipped approx 1300 miles. That price is fully insured and bonded should anything happen to the vehicle in transit. I used state-to-state transport (http://state-to-state.com/index.htm) as recommended by the dealer.

I would give them a grade of B as a transport company. They said it would take 3-5 days and it took 5 days. The car didn't have any visable problems with it and they only use 3 vehicle cariers which means that you don't have any cars above your car during shipping (which can leak fluids on your car!). My only complaint is that they had told me I would have a Saturday delivery and said they would call the day before to confrim. They never called the day before and when I got a hold of them on Saturday they said it wouldn't be until Monday night due to a problem with an early delivery (I was #3 on the delivery list of the 3 cars :( so I had to wait for the two prior delivieries). They also had some bad weather during the trip that caused car accidents which backed up the expressways.

They would have received an A if they had been more proactive and called me on Friday and let me know it was looking like a Sunday delivery. I would of plan my Saturday differently and the dissapointment wouldn't have been as bad when I got the bad news on Saturday.

The only other negatives is that you have to go to the DMV and register, get your title, etc. since the out-of-state dealer can't do that for you and your car is not that clean after traveling 5 days on a truck through all kind of weather. However, it is much better than somebody else driving your truck on the roads and not necessarily observing the break in rules, and adding wear and tear to the vehicle. Therefore, having it shipped was my preference. It had 10 miles on it when it left the dealer and it had 10 miles on it when I received it.

The $630 did increase the total cost of the vehicle for me, but I needed the vehicle quick as I had a good buyer for a good price for my old car and they wanted that by the 1st of April. I felt that the money I was being offered on my old car was over $630 more than I expected to get for it so I wasn't going to screw up the sale on my old vehicle by waiting. Plus, I wanted my MDX soon!

RochesterMDX,
I commend you on your effort. Also for factoring in the net differential between selling your car and the new MDX. Fortunately, this time around I had no trade-in but in the past, the differential has varied by as much as $5,000 among dealers which people sometimes may overlook in their car buying decision.
