I would like to replace my CD/Radio player in my 2003 MDX with the tour/nav system with one which will play mp3 formats. My local audio shop tells me that it cannot be done because the radio is linked to the nav system. Has anyone done this? If so, what did you replace it with?

It can be done BUT there has to be extensive modification, since the voice of the navi goes over the speaker in the radio. There was a post long ago how someone by passed it and use a external speaker. But again it was EXTENSIVE modifications. IMHO more trouble than its worth. I ended up getting a blitzsafe and a Alpine CHA-634 cd/mpe changer.
