Hi,

I'm looking into buying an '01 X with about 65,000KM or the equivalent of 40,000 miles. Any suggestions on what to look out for and check.

Any thoughts on the extended warranty and when and/or if to purchase it?

I've donre research into the faulty trannies and am aware of this issue. A frined of mine replaced his on a TL about 2 months ago.

Thanks for all of your advice.

If you've got the option for the extended warranty, take it. Peace of mind. . .

As for the car, what's the price?

Thanks Mod,

Price is $37.7K CDN or $27.9K US with the current exchange rate. I'm still trying to figure out what all the options are, since the car price can increase $10K with options alone.

The tranny worries me a bit since it a used vehicle and the extended warranty would at least take care of any immediate or short term issues.

As far as ppl writing that performing three or four hard gear shifts can ruin the trans, that is a load of BS. I've been testing tranny clutch packs for some time now and they are forgiving as heck, for a lack of a better word.

About the only way you can burn one is if you accumulate debrins. Other than that, next thing is if it starts to slip, you will burn off the friction material and lock it, but that happens under heavy engine load ie: towing over extended period of time + poor cooling.

Thanks:)

For another $8K, you've got an '03, with 40K less miles. . . think about it. Miles are what kill a car.
