Got the new Eastwood catalog today. They have a high temperature brake caliper coating paint system set for street and performance applications. Resistant to 900 degrees F and can be applied without removing or disassembling the caliper. 90+% gloss finish, does not fade with heat or UV exposure. Coating self-levels, prevents corrosion and attack from chemicals. Includes instructions, 2 component color - activation system, mixing jar, stir stick, degreaser and application brush. Coats @ 4 sq. ft. or 4 calipers. Made in the USA. The Stainless Steel Wire Brush removes loose rust.
It looks pretty good--they have it in nine colors. I couldn't give a direct link since they use frames in their online catalog, but the main url is www.eastwoodcompany.com Click on the item which is on the home page for more info. |

I remember someone in this site has their calipers painted in red in a black 01/02 MDX. I forgot where it is. Do a search, I think you'll find it.
Do you think you'll ruined the "luxury" feel of the MDX after painting it or are you one of those sporty kind of people? |

That is cool, I think a darker color v's a bright color would not detract from the "luxury" feel. |

| Be prepared to clean them often, whatever the colour may be, otherwise there is no point to it and they will look like an eye sore. |

| Actually with the painted caliper, it is so much easier to keep it clean. Just hose off the brake dust and your good to go. I had non-painted calipers before and it is almost impossible to keep it clean especially once the brake dust "bakes" on it. |

| Maybe somewhat easier to clean, true, but regardless, if you let the brake dust sit on anything too long, including rims, its hard to clean it off. Having the calipers painted, and not cleaning them, you will have contrasting surfaces. Dark silver rotor, ie: redish-brown caliper. Otherwise its just dark silver rotor and a dirty dark looking caliper ie: not as eyecatcing. |

How long do you have to wait for each caliper to dry before you can drive? Thinking of doing it, but need to know if it is a possible weekend project. After painting can I put my wheels back on, before the calipers are dry-- this way can do it at home.
Also does anyone have ideas how to stencil the logo or letters in white on the calipers if they were painted red? What would be a good technique? |

| Sure you can put the wheel back on, but as far as driving it depends on the curing time of the paint. Some might flake off after. It usually will say hoe long after painting and if you apply the paint to cold or warm housings. |

| Whoa! That is not bat at all.... I personally think that the black X is the best colour for the red calipers. |
