| Has anyone tried to play CD-Rs or CD-RWs on the 6 CD Changer? Any problems? |

| no prob w/ burned CD-R's on mine. Haven't tried an RW. |

I just received my MDX yesterday and that was the second thing I experimented with (after play with the Navi, of course). I currently have 3 CD-R based mixes loaded and I have listed to all three from start to finish. No problems.
Some people in earlier posts complained about problems with CD-R. Most of the complaints were about skipping. I didn't have any of these problems.
There are many different quality CD-R medias out there. I think some of them have poor reflectivity causing skipping problems. I used PNY CD-R media and burned them on a HP 9x00i series CD-R.

My changer skipped on delivery, and one of the problem disks was a CD-R, and I was told that was one of the reasons I was having problems. It wasn't true--nearly every disk (CD-R or not) eventually skipped, and with the new changer in place, everything works flawlessly.
It's worth noting that CD-Rs are relatively heterogeneous, and that some people have problems with some brands (in some CD players) while others won't have problems. I've lately been having excellent luck with Verbatim CD-Rs, bought at Sam's club in volume pretty cheaply. I haven't tried CD-RWs, either. |

| It would be interesting indeed to see if CD-RW's can be played on the MDX changer. Heck, I can't even get them to play on my Sony home deck! |

I've had no problems playing back audio CD-R's recorded at 4x. Mine are not made on the computer, but on a home Harmon Kardon CDR30.
The only thing I would like to mention is that if you apply labels to the disks, they will tend to bubble with the temperature extremes. I came very close to getting three of them jammed in the deck. I have since removed all labels from the 40 CD-'R's I made for the MDX. It doesn't look as classy, but you never really see the label that much. It's either in the case or in the changer. All track and artist information is listed on the front and back of the jewel cases. |

Good point on NO LABELS, accmdx...
Insofar as CDRWs working or not...when I get a chance this wkend (if I get a chance after Zaino, that is) I'll give it a shot.
As I recally, for a disc to be recognized as an audio CD, a regular CD player will only recognize the FIRST SESSION on the disk, and the disk MUST BE CLOSED. On a CDRW, closing a disc would make it un-rewriteable, which obviously isn't the purpose of the RW :)
I've probably butchered the exact terminology, but there was something to that effect when creating music CD-Rs via a PC. |

| I had tried a CDRW and it would not play. I used a Ricoh highspeed CDRW burned at 10x on a plextor 12/10/32. Some say burning at lower speed can make a difference but I can play CDRs burned at 12x with no problems. As far as closing a CDRW, it can be erased again after its closed(at least with my 10x highspeed cdrw). |

I doubt that CDRW will work because of the lower reflectivity of the medium. You could try checking the CDR FAQ at http://www.cdrfaq.org/ and see what they say....

No problem here either. Plays real good, can't tell the difference. The question is, "Is it live or is it memorex?" Does anyone remember that or am I showing my age?
