just curious - how many of you wash your X yourself (I do), versus how many who take it to a car wash?
need to convince my wife that I am not the only one obsessing about washing the X myself!!! |

I ALWAYS wash it myself. In fact, I wash all the cars in my household, ALWAYS. I use a nice mitt soap with carnuba wax and dry it with the CA Waterblade. I am freak, but my wife does appreciate her car being clean since she won't clean it herself! |

Here in upstate NY, commercial car washes are the only way to go for about 8 months of the year. In winter, it's usually not a good idea to wash the paint with ice cubes. :) I'm sure our Canadian friends will agree.
If I lived in San Diego, life would be very different. |

| I wash my X myself almost every week. It takes me well over an hour and I love every minute and consider it relaxing (a drink and good music help the effect...). My girlfriend doesn't understand why I don't need her to "help". |

| Wash my own. If I could ever find a good hand car wash where the employees didn't wear huge skull and crossbone rings and monsterous belt buckles to scratch my car maybe I would go to one. If I'm travelling, which is often, I will go to a no-touch wash. |

Plattsburgh is just past the exit for the North Pole, isnt' it? :) Great party town from what I hear (at least from the SUNY students!). |

| Have always washed myself. But come next winter, will drive the 25 minutes to a touchless car wash for cleaning. |

| Always hand wash myself, at least once a week takes me about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Consider it enjoyable, almost an art. |

And I know some guys from Brooklyn that think the Bx is upstate. Perspective is everything.
Other than the Big Apple, no apples in the Bronx that I know of, but the Hudson Valley still has lots of orchards that haven't been turned to condos or subdivisions yet. Give it a few years though... |

One of the benefits of self washing vehicle it also give you time to pay closer attention to the car for things that might need touching up or things that need to be secured better.
Helped me more than once in the past.
Just my 2 cents worth |

| Always hand wash both cars - and tell the dealers NOT to wash them after a service. |

Good point. It takes me only about 5-10 max. to wipe down my MDX with a damp chamois each day to keep it looking its best. When it is really dirty, then a thorough handwashing takes only about 45 minutes.:29: |

I abstained from voting since my MDX is only 3 weeks old. I've washed the car twice so far and will probably continue to wash it myself for a while. After year or so, my vote would probably be most of the time wash it myself.

This is one of those polls that might get a different response depending on the season (for anyone that lives in a part of the US that has distinct 'seasons' - or Canada).
Right now (spring/summer), I'm inclined to pick 'mostly myself, sometimes at a car wash'. On the other hand, ask me in January when there is a foot and a half of snow piled on either side of my driveway and I'll say 'mostly at a car wash'! :) |
