well guys , if you didnt already know, i did what everyone probally wishes they could do. I got my front windshield tinted. I had already had my front 2 windows tinted 18%, but, when i was watching tv or a dvd in my X during the day, i couldmt see crap because of the glare. Well, my installed told me to tint the front windshield, so i did, and man does it look awesome. It is 35% which is the legal shade for side windows, but on the front window it makes the truck look so much darker. Its a sick combo. ill post pics in a few, im just goin to let the idea of it sink thru the site then show you the great pics. enjoy.

URIRx98,
Looks really cool. Q: Are there any restictive laws in you State about tinting the entire windshield? The most that is legal where I live is to put a small tinted visor strip along the top of the windshield. |

| No sure how its in the states but in Canada, No tinting to the front windshied can be done, if you are panning on driving the car on the city streets. Boooo. |

I've seen someone in a Civic with an orange tint on all windows. Looked interesting but not as interesting as the dude pulled over and with a Cruiser behind him.
Besides, how well can one see with all that tint on the glass in evening and especially at night?????  |

hey guys,
glad u like it. It is pretty dark at night, but very easy to see thru. ITs only 35% in the front, but since my other windows are tinted 20%, it can be dark, but its ok, just got to roll down the windows alittle. I wont ever have a problem with that cause im in FL, and its always nice out.
The laws in fl are as strict as they are anywhere else. U cant have darker then 35% on the front 2 windows, and its totally illegal to have the front windshield done, but who cares. U cant tell its done at all. hehehe. more pics to come.

I love the look but you wouldn't last long on the streets in California with the Highway Patrol...
I have my front side windows tinted to match the back windows but at night with my old eyes (and the blind spot created by the front pillar), I sometimes scare myself not being able to see well. |

| Looks great, but in the evening it must be pretty dark looking out the front window? I have 15% on front and 20% over the stock tint and in the evening I have to be pretty careful, it's very dark. |

Please be careful. There is a very fine line between being cool and not being able to see at all, especially when driving at night. |

The law is 35% in New York State also, but not strickly enforced. Just make sure to lower all windows whenever pulled over. Yes you are right about the night driving Excalibur, if not used to driving with Limo tint I strongly wouldn't recommend darker than 35% for the fronts, and leaving stock tint on rears. I used to drive limo's so I was used to driving with the dark windows, I wouldn't ever let my wife drive my MDX at night with my 15% front and 20% over stock in rears!! |

Good advice about front and rear tint %. My admonition is to URIRx98 who tinted his entire front windshield with 35% tint. It could definitely impede vision when driving at night. Safety first.:29: |

No people running over for me, the tint is perfect and is very easy to see out of. For any one who has 35 all round, they know whats its like to drive with the front done. Its real nice, even at night.

| For those of you not familiar with sofla, it is extensively illuminated. Unless you have drl (or X-like auto), you can regularly forget to turn on your headlights at night. When I lived down there, my car had all around dark limo like tint. No matter what you couldn't see inside even with a maglite. Seeing out at night wasn't an issue. Never got pulled over either. When I moved up here, the dark tint on the windshield did make it somewhat difficult to drive at night. Actually after sofla, I'm not sure if it was the tint, `cause I still haven't got use to just how friggen dark this place gets at night (in spite of 7% income tax  ) and still find it hard to drive on unfailiar roads without any tint. |

URIR98,
Very dramatic pics, especially in the daylight. It will be interesting to know your long term results with your tinted windshield. Please keep us posted if you encounter any conflicts with the local authorities. |

| I really hope you don't get involved on any serius accident, even when not at fault the case for negligence on your side could certainly be made, the person that did the tinting will also be on the hook. Better safe than sorry IMHO. |

| Cool for a show car. Asking for trouble on public roads. Ticket potential is not the problem--you can probably afford the fine. Your vehicle can not be driven safely at night and you have exposed yourself to very serious liability issues. You could kill someone. Please get smart and remove the tint at once. |

Tinting an entire windshield makes about as much sense to me as driving at night with sun glasses on... At night, I want as much light to see dimly lit objects as possible and throwing away 65% of it is not a Mensa move in my opinion... Of course, perhaps he never, ever does drive at night...

URIRX98,
Perhaps at this point, it would be better to heed these words of caution. If you were driving at night and hit a pedestrian crossing the street because of your tinted winshield, the results would be disastrous. Or, what if your tinted windshield impeded your vision at night and caused you to make a fatal driving decision. You would be cool, but you would also be very dead. Finally, I am starting to wonder, what responsible tinting company would tint a customer's entire windshield and also expose themselves to such a liability. End of sermon.

You know the saying "What if grandma had balls?"

UXIRIR98 admits that tinting an entire windshield is illegal in his State. He has knowingly assumed a risk, and has chosen to break the law. Your logic about a brick falling from the sky is way off the mark. Too bad about your grandma...I wish she had some balls too. |

dude, you guys have serious problems if you think that a 35% tint would actually screw with ones vision. 35% is the legal tint in most states for side windows so there for if it can be on legal on side windows., then its obviously can be see out of.
2ndly at night, it is a little tougher to see, but, not entirely difficult. I did have some problem last night in Wellington, but thats because there is no streetlights, but, I wear glasses, thought they may not be strong, but help me see very well.
3rd of all, in the state of fl, the cops dont mess with people over tints, as they do in other states. Most people have darker tints then 20% on there fronts, and limo tint on there rears, and unless the car looks freakin gangsta then the cops leave you alone for it. THE SUN IS TERRIBLE HEAR and the TINTED FRONT WINDSHIELD is a G-DSEND. As a matter of fact, everyone at my audio place has there front windows tinted and believe me my truck is the envy of eveyone at my work. You all most love it enought that you keep bickering about it. So stop the badmouthing please, if you dont like it, say you dont, but dont say you do, then tell me im goin to hit some pedestrian. THats just f-u-c-k-i-n gay.
