Hi all,
i just picked up my X at the dealership today, it has 100 miles on it, i personal felt it was quite high for a new car but there weren't no white around town, so i had to pick it up...
anyways, i drove home, lovin it, but when i was sitting in the car playing with all the options, once in a while i will feel a little shaking, i was wondering if anyone experienced this too? or it is just my car?
one other thing, i was wondering is it possible to use the front LCD screen to view the DVD? i couldn't find it anywhere in the manuals.
thanks all |

| No shaking here, very smooth idle in fact sometimes I have to look at the tach to make sure it is running. |

Congrats first.....
No shaking here as well.
To use the front LCD screen to view the DVD, you will need some modification. Other member has done this. Use search engine to find out more. :) |

NO shaking on my X, I've had my X for alittle over a month and its running fine.
You should take it back to the dealer and let them look at it. |

My X is only three month old and have 6,000 miles on it.
I noticed the same shaking thing especially during the idle after I turn on the engine. It happens so often that I thought that was OK. However, I began to worry now, since most of you do not have this kind of problem. |

| No shaking here... as a matter of fact, it took a while to get used to how quiet and smooth it was while idling. I would forget the engine was running! |

Give it a break-in period. Watch the tach when it's idling: if it drops below 700 rpm, you may need to have the idle adjusted.
Or it might be those dang muffler bearings agin! |

| I can feel SLIGHTLY more vibration at idle when the A/C compressor comes on, but still much less than in other cars. |

| Could be a few things that I would consider if the car was older, ie: one cylinder mis-firing, timing, but since its new... hmmmm.. i'm stumped. I'd give it some 'brake-in' time see what happens. |

Perhaps since perception is subjective, some may not find it an issue or have even noticed it. There is a noticeable engine vibration in the MDX idle. It increases with load such as the A/C compressor or turning the steering wheel which which loads the engine with pump action. I can feel the vibration on my right arm resting on the armrest and in the seat cushion.
I brought it to the dealer and we sat in a new MDX and it did the same thing. If you open the hood and put your hand on the engine cowl you will surely feel what people are noting. Again, whether it is subjectively a problem is a personal thing. Do it first with the A/C off. Then turn on the compressor and feel it increase.
There was a previous thread on this issue. You can take glass of water, put it on the armrest, start the engine and watch the water vibrate. |

I also believe it is the A/C compressor's activation causing the X "shaking" during idling. This is due to the climate control system at work to maintain the temp set at the dash board, or put the control to Full Auto. You can test this by turning the temp control system to "Off" mode, and keep the X in idle. I beg you won't feel the shaking anymore.
Sometimes when you stop at traffic lights or stop signs, you can also feel the "shaking" if the A/C compressor is activating while stopping. In several instances, I even notice that my headlights flicker little bit due to instantaneous drop in voltage when the A/C compressor is activating. I saw the reflection of my headlights from the car in front of me.
