| I've had my MDX for about 2 weeks now and am new to automatics and new cars. I've had my manual toyota truck for about 20 years and finally decided to get a new car. My question is whenever I am stopped I can feel a slight vibration of the engine through my brake pedal and even when I put it in neutral I can feel the same vibration but a little less. Is this normal on automatics and or the MDX? Second question whenever I push the brakes down it makes a like your pushing an air pump down noise? is this normal also. Thanks. |

Air pump hiss when pressing the brake is normal -- all of ours do it.
Dunno about the vibration through the brake pedal. Mine doesn't do that. Haven't heard other comments re: that either. |

Very slight hiss when applying brakes. I mean very slight, can't hear it with radio on. Only when its off and you listen for it.
Also no vibration at a stop. That is not a normal feature of any automatic that I am aware of. All but one of our cars in the past 24 years has been an automatic. |

I get the same vibration when the brake pedal is pressed while stopped. Once I release the brake it's gone. On mine it sounds more like the engine is idling a little high and then goes back down. Occurs whether the car is cold or been running for awhile. Have not taken it to the dealer yet.

| I took it in to the dealer and he said that they all do that. It still does it on mine but I've made myself forget about it but I still don't like it and I have not been in any other ones so I don't know if he was just saying that. Let me know if you take yours in and they find something different. THanks |

| The hiss is from a rubber boot that protects part of the brake assembly area under the dash from dirt and moisture, when pressing on the brakes it forces some air out. I think there is a thread on this somewhere here on org. I guess you could poke a few holes in it, just kidding!! |
