| Got my Summer edition of Style Magazine yesterday, cool cover picture (and article inside) of a RR MDX. Although I have to say some of the pictures from our members warrant being on the cover too. On page 60 there is a response from Acura to a letter from an '01 MDX'er saying the new Navi. update will be out this fall. We'll wait and see. |

Got mine yesterday, too. Pretty nice, as this is the first one I've ever received.
The color of the X on the cover looks like a different shade than Red Rock to me. Could it be a new shade for 2004, by chance? |

How do I get my magazine ? Is it an automatic subscription since I own the X or do I have to call/ email someone to put me on the distribution list ?
Thanks ! |

So it's sort of like the VW Driver's magazine/ VW Acssesories mag?
Audi has one too, forgot what it was called.
I was also wondering, VW/Audi sent us some cleaning goodies and some gift certificates and a membership CD, does Acura do that too? I know I sound like I'm a salesman from VW, but I was just wondering. |

I know the one GM has is call Motion. I got one from the dealer (summer 2002). I don't think Volvo makes these stuff (or did I just never get one before). |

The VW one was Small World when I used to get it. And it was a lot more interesting. It had to be, not many model changes in those days. :4: |

I've got two Acuras ('03 3.2 TL plus the X) under two different family member names. We get two copies, usually a month or more apart. I have no idea why.
I agree, the pictured Red MDX on the cover doesn't look like RR to me. It doesn't look metallic at all. I like the RR better.
Also, I saw the letter about the Nav update and had to chuckle having seen the comments on this forum. Makes me even more glad I didn't spend the extra two grand for the NAV system. I know it's really a very nice toy, but not having it, all I have to b1tch about is the Bose. |

If you haven't checked the Audio topic, you should. Many Bose owners are a lot happier once they replace their crappy speakers. |

Blackura,
You appear to be the wise one. I used to suggest to any that asked that they should, IMHO, get the Nav system. Well, my tune has changed. What a friggin rip-off. The damn thing depreciates faster than a speeding bullet AND the obtainable value has been significantly limited by Acura. Heck, we had to buy a map book for the X with Nav so that we could find our way around. Sooooo, if I were you I would chuckle ('cause you were smart), but I was not that wise and I am getting angrier by the day. |

Thank you, but I'm not wise. I'm lucky. I actually ordered one with NAV and put my name on the two-month waiting list along with everybody else.
Then I had the opportunity to get one w/o NAV in a week due to someone else's financing falling through. By then, the buzz of trying to order a new vehicle with "the works" had worn off and more logical, analytical thinking had come back to me. I grabbed the opportunity to save a couple of months and a couple of grand and grabbed a couple of Rand McNallys and breathed a heavy sigh of relief.
Honestly, I still sometimes wax philosophical on how neat it would have been to have the really cool looking NAV instead of the relatively ugly trip computer on the dash. But then I peek at the extra two grand in my bank account and that feeling passes.
And yes, I learned a long time ago that cars and their options depreciate at vastly different rates.

| Interesting to note that I received my Lexus magazine last week and the Acura style magazine this week. This has happened the last 3 issues - I wonder if all manufacturers that have these type of magazines try to send them out about the same time?? |

| HARDROCK |
| Me thinks they are both quarterly publications. The second quarter just ended 6/30 and with how they are mailed, these next couple of weeks is when most folks should expect to receive them. |

I also received my first copy last week after I called in to register about 4 months ago.
One interesting topic on P.61 talks about "Tires designed Specifically For Your Car." After reading the article, it looks like that we need to maintain our X's tire pressure at 32 psi at normal condition to match the "performance and safety" of the OEM tires orignially desgined specific for the X.
I am impressed by this statment from the article: "Developing a tire for a new Acura takes almost as long as designing the car itself, it is usually a two-year process that begins early in a vehicle's development."
Does it also mean that if the X is not using its OEM replacement
tires when you need new tires, your car's performance and safety will be in question? |
