| fyi: I use it and like it (i.e. its cheep after rebate:D) ...anyway, aren't allowed to install it on office machine, so I used to use www.mapsonus.com. Yesterday I discovered it is available on the web too! @ www.mappoint.com , `course it doesn't have all the features as the local install program but, its out there. |

I too like it for its simplicity. I used Streets & Trips plus an atlas to plan my last trip which took me across 16 states and 5 provinces.
Just note that some of the more granular options should be configured to eliminate the need to travel on practically non-existent roads. For instance, I was traveling on the Trans-Canada Highway (TC-1) and Streets & Trips detailed that I should take some gravel side roads as its simple straightest line logic determined that was the shortest path. Outside that, it's a handy tool to compliment an atlas.

Hi Zafer:
___Mapquest is another good one. Well that was until I picked up Mapopolis w/ my Axim and an i.Trek which just sold and soon to be an iPAQ 2210 w/ an i.Trek ;)

I used to use both mapquest and mapblast. I really liked mapblast's 'Line Drive' map option (see below). Seems as though mapblast has been purchased by Microsoft so, this functionality is now available on mappoint (if you click on the mapblasat link above, you are redirected to mappoint).
Here's an example of a 'Line Drive' map (between two Acura dealers in my area): |

How is that any different than the routing feature in Trips and Maps-? I can type in two (or as many as I wish) addresses or cities or combination, and instanly get a routed map, routed in accordance with highway preferences, and other criteria such as fastest. That feature has been in the program as long as I can remember. Perhaps the line drive feature is somethng else I am missing?? |

I don't have Trips and Maps but, probably not much difference. I just find the Line Drive representation to be much cleaner and easier to follow (especially while driving). Of course, I always have the 'full map' version available as well. |

Not exactly sure what you mean by "drive line". Perhaps that is the same as turn by turn or strip. Streets and maps give you the option of printing out driving directions only, turn by turn maps, strip maps, selected area maps and highlighted places maps. |

Yep. I upgraded from the S&T 2000 version to S&T 2004 version about a month ago. One week after I received the 2004 version, I got an email about the 2005 version. Arrrggh! Oh well, no biggie because the online description of both is virtually identical and it wouldn't have made much of a difference anyway.
I used the old Microsoft Trip Planner 1998 back in summer of 2000 to do a cross-country trip. Worked very well, but there are lots of new features on Streets & Trips that work better. I'll be using my laptop in a cross-country trip starting next Tuesday (9/7/04). We'll see how it works then. |
