Rather than hassle it myself I have an installer coming to the house next week to finish the install of my Nokia 91K car kit and external dual-band gain antenna. They wanted to install a small "cigar" antenna on the inside front window, but I am passing on that. It is not a gain antenna and also would be illegal in California, unless it went in the lower right corner and at that I believe it still would exceed the permissible size.

They said there are issues installing a glass mount antenna on tinted glass (as I am putting in on the right rear quarter glass), but my research does not bear that out. Antenna Specialists (antenna manufacturer) indicates that it is only Ford "Instaclear" glass and metallic reflector glass that will cause an issue.

I'd be interested if anyone has experienced any signal strength issues with an on-glass install over the tinted quarter windows. |
