Just a quick question as I go through the process of building a vehicle online. I am looking at the accessories catalogue and I am wondering whether I can add some accessories later if I am uncertain now, or whether I should get everything I think I'll need all at once?
One thing I like about the MDX is all the stuff you can get for it, but of course there is a price to be paid for all the toys. I am thinking that some of it may be able to wait and I can see whether I really need it, like the short box for the roof. Thanks. :) |

It will definitely be cheaper to add as many as you want AFTER you take delivery. Especially, if you can do it yourself. In that case you go to hondacuraworld.com for great prices, excellent service, plus you can download the installation instructions anytime.
The only other option, is if your dealership will offer you a great deal on including some at discount. Some dealerships like to force you to take some, but I believe that tactic is losing favor.
You need to decide if others, like the towing package, would not be better to have the dealer install. Not a cheap option, but do some searches on here of varoius accessories and you will see what other owners have experienced. |

Ditto on DaleB's post.
The only option I had the dealer install was the hitch setup. I split the cost with them, so they only "charged" me $300. I'm sure it was made up in the cost of the MDX itself.
I had them install it for two reasons. 1) Since the trans and PS lines have to have coolers added, I did not want some misunderstanding to happen if there were problems later. 2) Options installed by dealer at time of vehicle purchase are covered for the vehicle's warranty period. (refer to reason #1)
Any other option was no big deal to install myself and does not involve the driveline or other critical parts. I figured I could save some money and do them myself. The likelihood of ever having a problem with them or related parts is minimal. |

The only advantage to having the dealer install accessories is that they then come under the car warranty rather than the one year parts/accessories warranty. |

Some might add the wood steering wheel to the very short list of options they'd have the dealer install. Many, including myself, would not want to mess with the airbag, etc. to install the steering wheel. YMMV. |

But it has been before that the dealer doesnt have a database of if it was installed prior or after delivery. wink wink |

I would think that if you make a warranty claim beyond one year on an accessory, you'd have to show a receipt for the install wouldn't you? |
