As promised in another thread, the installation instructions for all accessories are now available for download on the http://www.hondacuraworld.com website in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. Don't have Abobe Acrobat? Not to worry! Click the icon below the download and get it right from my website! So far, only the MDX has been done (well, priorities, you know :D ).
Hopefully I'll have the TSBs ready to go by the end of the month. I just upgraded the server again from 800 meg to 15 gig, so within a week or two the site will get much, much faster!
My new email address is going to be tim@hondacuraworld.com in the coming weeks. The plan is to get off AOL for the most part and switch to something else as right now my present email is on my personal AOL account. For the time being at least, my email will be forwarded to my present address.
Anything else you'd like to see as long as the space is now there? Ideas are welcomed!
Happy MDXing! |

Here's something else. Within two weeks (I will announce when I get them) I will have ventshades for the MDX in stock. The price will be tentatively $69.00 for the set of 4 (they are smoke-tinted visors that go over the top of the door windows).
Also have in the chrome and gold MDX plate frames that everyone's asked me about. I only have a limited number right now, selling for $45 per pair including shipping, chrome OR gold! |

Tim,
That is great that the installation instructions will be online. I just took a look at the site and can't find them however. Am I just looking too soon or am I just blind?
Thanks! |

|
| Just click on the image or the hyperlink you'll be guided to the detail page with the instruction below. |

That what I get for not trying more then one accessory. I tried to find the instructions for the rear mud guards and didn't see any PDF links when I clicked on the picture or the link. I then assumed the PDF's were elsewhere. Had I checked another accessory, I would have found the PDF links.

Hi Tim
Thanks for adding the PDF's
I'd like it if we could have a drop down menu to locate directly to a particular accessory from the 1st page -- that way to find something that's way at the end of the list we don't have to go through all the other pages first.
I've mentioned this to you before - I'd also like it if on each accessory, we could have the Acura installation time -- so we could guestimate how much our local dealer should charge for installation.
Thanks.

Good ideas Rail. I agree it can take a while to get to accessories on the tail end of the list. If not a drop down box, perhaps just list all the accessories on the first page w/o the pictures and if the user clicks on them they will see a picture. Perhaps put a little "picture" icon next to each to make it obvious that if they click on the link or the picture icon they would see the picture.

| Very Nice. The PDF files can also work as a good meter for that one can or can't do. I looked at how that lower trim and started off by looking wide-eyed, but then realized it really wasn't much to do and that the holes I'd be drilling wouldn't be seen anyway. Bravo! |

|
| Not direct from Acura, but made by VentVisor right here in the USA. I have just received my first shipment of 12 at 69.00 for the set of 4, in a dark smoke tint. Give me jingle or drop an email if interested!! The quality is excellent, and they install with an adhesive tape. Can't wait to see 'em on an MDX, but we're out of MDXs :( |
|
|
|
| Do you have pictures of the vent shades? |
|
|
|
Wish I did. In fact I'm willing to send a free set to a regular on this board (more than 20 posts) if they'd be willing to post a photo with them on their MDX.
The first accepting post here gets them :D |
|
|
|
| Tim, sorry for the brief reply but had to be quick you know... Anyways thanks for the offer. I will install the shade as soon as I get it and post the picture to the gallery. I will also email you my addr. |

sidewinder,
man, are you quick!!! good job.;) |
|
|
|
Now, can't wait to see Sidewinder's pictures...way to move Side...thanks for moving so quickly so we can see how the shades look. I called my local Acura dealer yesterday and he referred me to Pepboys, who had none. I loved the shades on my Tahoe and hope they look good on the X.
Thanks again.

| I noticed in the "Herrington" catalog that I received yesterday a set of similar window shields, but these don't require tape to install. The write-up says "you merely slide the micro-thin mounting flange into your vehicle's window channel." Hmmm. Has anybody tried this product? It does not say who the manufacturer is. But MDX is listed in the applications. Price is $79.95 for all four. |

Here's another revision in the works, coming for May.
You will be able to access the acuramdx.org monthly special by entering a secret code (which I will post here) every month to access the special item and price on the hondacuraworld.com site. It will end up appearing in the "specials" box on the top blue row on the screen.
There will also be a place to post messages along with your order (for colors for painted accessories, or whatever) which will be able to be done online as well.
I will soon have the opportunity to carry front grille guards for the MDX. There are two styles, one that covers the entire front end up to the headlights (in chrome or black), and a "nerf" bar, which will come up from the bottom and just go around the lower grille section, the perfect thing for a nice set of big Hella foglamps too. They are under development and should be out within a month. Would any of you be interested in such a thing?
I have also been propositioned with Weathertech floor mats supposedly designed for the MDX interior. They do hold a quart of water, and are available in saddle tan and black, but the price would bring them within a tick of the Acura factory mats (in a set of 4, they are available front only as well). Since I'm not too familiar with aftermarket mats, and I know many people have opted for the Costco ones, would it make sense for me to order them?
Thoughts appreciated! |
|
|
|
Hey Tim,
Let us know when the front grill guards be available. Still deciding if I will get the lower trim or nerf bar/grill guards but my main purpose for that is to install those big hella lamps like what you said. Great if you can post pics of MDX with the "bars" installed.
Also, I kinda like the ventshades made by Weathertech (no tapes), do you know if they will have one available for the MDX?? |
|
|
|
Tim,
Can't comment on the Costco mats, but the Weather Tech mats are very nice. I sold my Acura Mats at a loss just so I could get a set.

Jun - Not sure, I'm not going through Weathertech directly, but I don't think they're out for the MDX yet. I'll see what I can do.
grathke - What did you pay? I'm curious to see if I can match/beat what they charged you. If they turn out to be cheaper elsewhere there's no sense in getting them.

I'd be interested in the guards as well (i'f you hadn't noticed my threads already about WAAG and Manik ones). Who makes the ones you're looking at?
I want to know about the mats pricewise as well. After talking to you about that air deflector, I think aftermarket is going to be the way to go on MANY MDX accessories, once they start to become available. I still want a rear air deflector with brake leds in it... ;)
Also, Husky is also making MDX liners now. Appear to be running about $75-80. |

Tim
FYI: I'm interested in the grill guard & vent shades.
Money is tight now, but soon. I'll call ya'.
Thanx for hookin' up mdx.org, once again.
You're the MAN !
Ciao !

Husky is making cargo liners for the MDX?
Cool, what's the link?
That's the cheapest price I've seen yet !

Although they are not available yet, you should post this info. in the accessories section. Visors, license plate frames, grill guards. Many will be interested !!!
That will give members a heads up.
Just a thought |

I'm not crazy about sticking anything to the outside of my MDX, this sounds interesting.
Found the link: Herrington catalog !!!

Hmmm......
These might be better !
I still can't figure out how they stay in the window jam....?!

The catalog indicates a website at http://www.herringtoncatalog.com I have never tried it. I saw what looks to be the same item at MacNeil's website (maker of Weathertec mats).
Somebody says Husky mats are now available? For the front and 2nd row? I have only seen the cargo liner available and that's why I bought the Acura mats. |

Here is what the http://www.Herrington-catalog.com website says"
"Stylish European Wind-und-Stürm Shields™ Add A Breath of Fresh Air to Stuffy Interiors — Without Wind or Rain — and Without Limiting Vision!
In the old days, cars had pivoting wind wings to let you direct refreshing outside air into the passenger compartment. But no more. But you can put these handsome, well-engineered Sturm Shields™ on your 4x4, minivan or import to add a flow of fresh air that keeps you alert as you drive — even in the rain.
Precise German engineering lets you merely slide the micro-thin mounting flange into your vehicle’s window channel for a custom fit — no hassles, no tape, and no tools required! Lightly tinted, thick-cast acrylic remains optically transparent; is clearly superior to dark, flimsy alternatives. Drive at speed with windows open, without annoying wind drone and buffeting. Also lets you leave windows partially open to reduce heat build-up when parked — without worrying about a sudden cloudburst, and wet seats! Sturm Shields™ are the only wind and rain deflectors to pass stringent German TÜV quality and safety testing. (Item # M161 and M162.)
In order to insure that this custom made product fits your specific vehicle, please call a trained customer service representative at 800-622-5221. Please indicate year, make, model, and color desired when ordering. (This product is shipped directly from the manufacturer. Please allow an additional 2-3 weeks for delivery.)
Wind-und-Stürm Shields™ M161 $44.95 Front Pair Only
Wind-und-Stürm Shields™ M162 $79.95 Front & Rear (4)"
They are not completely tinted black, which worries me because I am going to tint the front 2 windows soon and I don't want the visors to stand out and look stupid....I want a nice blend.....listen to me....blend.

quickly. I have been out of town and got back today and checked the site around two and didn't see them. Your "X" looks really good, Side. I hate to mention wind noise, BUT, have you noticed any wind noise from these?
I really do like the shades so I can roll my window down a little in the summer, and crack it when it rains without getting wet.
I am definitely going to get them...really looks cool on your "X."
Are the shades taped on?
Thanks again for your fast work.

| Tad, Havn't notice any noticeable difference in wind noise with the shades at around 50mph. Haven't had chance to go faster yet but I don't think it will make a diff. There is tape already on the shade and all you do is peel and stick. |
|
|
|
information. Please let us know if you hear any increase in wind noise at 70. I am going to go ahead and order them after seeing you pictures. Cool and practical.
Thanks again, TAD

The hondacuraworld.com site will have drop-down boxes on the left side of the screen in the coming week, eliminating the tedium of going through every accessory to find what you want! The accessory installation instructions as well as all MDX TSBs have been scanned in (SPECIAL thanks to Mushman who has been invaluable in this process!) and hopefully will appear by that time!
The slight re-design of the homepage will occur in the next week. Any final thoughts? |
|
|
|
Did anyone ever post pics of the window shades? |
|
|
|
Yes, Sidewinder did, under the gallery, "Ventshades courtesy of Hondacuraworld".
They really do look sharp! |
|
|
|
Okay, the changes are coming together! The MDX technical service bulletins are now up on the site (except for the latest radio bulletin), along with a brand-new look for the hondacuraworld homepage, which will make it much easier to find your desired part.
Comments appreciated! |

Tim, the site looks great and IMHO much more user friendly. One suggestion is to show the links to the Installation instructions and Service Bulletins in the Header of the pages rather than the footer, or even better it could be in both places. It took me a second to release the bulletins and installation instructions were linked at the bottom.
