Is there any reason why 2003's Trip Computer's display was changed? I saw the Trip Computer on 2001 in this thread: http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/show...ip+and+computer

it is much better than 2003's. Is there any hack to change the Trip Computer to 2001/2002 style?

lol... hey... that pic is of a NAV unit... haha... just a misunderstanding. Yeah... how crazy would that be if THAT was the trip computer in 01/02!

i think starb WAS referring to the nav units.

the picture in that link is the trip screen of a 2001 nav unit which is different than the trip screen found on the 2003 nav units.

that 2001 trip screen looks cool, though.

Yeah, exactly what I meant, the Trip Computer/AC screen is much better in 2001, than in 2003, where you have a blue progress bar depicting MPG; and you can't even have Outside Temp/AC/Trip Computer All-In-One screen.

Look in the Quick Refrence guide and you will see both the old and the new Trip Computer.

Here is the old on left compared to the new "improved":

And here is the AC/Info screen.

What a waste!

I was planning on purchasing the X with touring package and DVD entertainment unit this fall. I better check on to this new monitor selection. I do not like the layout of this new screen that the X have.:(

I agree, the 2003 screens are a step backwards. We don't even get a clock!

What does the History button show on the 01/02? The '03 has a Previous button, but it only shows data on the last fill-up.

Wishlist for Nav screen:

Log of MPG, not just current, like the CPU usage chart in task manager. After all, you are supposed to be driving not staring at the trip computer so what good is a dynamic display that changes so rapidlly that a quick glance doesn't really represent much at all.
I would guess about 10 minutes worth of data would be good, about 1 min for each 5mpg in the scale as shown in the 2003 screen.

Log of Speed (see above)

Avg trip MPG (click to display history showing averages and dates when refueled/reset)

Avg trip Speed (click to display history showing averages and dates when refueled/reset)

Miles since reset (I really like the reset with fuel option!)

Driving time since reset

Range to empty

Outside Temp (that changes quickly when the outdoor temperature has remained stable for a short time) with noticeable alert when freezing conditions occur, perhaps temperature background turns blue.

Date and Time (click on calendar icon to see calendar)

So on the 2003 there are 4 menu options when you press AC/Info
Number 2 is the trip computer. Not needed if pushing the AC/Info takes you to the trip computer.
Number 1 is setup, this should probably be a wrench icon on the main menu screen. (room in upper right)
Number 3 is help, this should probably be a question mark icon on the main menu screen. (room in upper right)
Number 4 is calendar, as stated above this would be available by clicking icon next to time/date

What do you think? Any more ideas?
If someone is handy with photoshop has spare time perhaps we can make some mock-ups and send to Acura, you never know!

I may try my hand at it but I am not that creative....

...they ran out of TIME & MONEY to do it right!

The changes for VOICE must have required most of the screens got "redone" and they just blew the budget on that.

The "old" screen is very close to the non-navi trip computer. In fact it probably took a SKILLED gui expert a while to line up everything.

The 03 screen looks much more like a SDK widget that they used without modification...

ALL THE MORE REASON TO have a "hacked" Navi -- we should all keep out fingers crossed for folks like ramesh52 & fireether!!!

Yah I miss our trip screen and 5 history log on our 2001 model. On our new model 2005 it only shows 1 tank fill of log and bars for trip screen. Ugly ones at that. But the ride, power and voice activation everything including bluetooth is a HUGE plus..... Trade off I guess..
