I saw the eBay listing have been emailing Trimking with questions and recently asked him about a group buy. He said he could do them at $149 + $24 shipping (which is $6 off the eBay listing price or $16 off the Buy-It Now price). Not much of a discount but then you wouldn't have to go through the whole auction thing. Need minimum of 5 for the group buy. If we get more I can probably ask him for a greater discount.
He also mentioned that the issue about the wholes that needed to be drilled not aligning has been resolved. |

Didn't know I had to clear it with a moderator first since I didn't see anything in the FAQ. I thought it was okay because other threads discussed group buys without clearing it with someone (or assume so) See the other threads for the spoiler back in 2002. |

maybe if you were buying it FROM the admin (aka, Tim, hondacuraworld.com).
if this is true, then this site is extremely biased and clearly has a conflict of interest.
my gut feeling is that it's not true because nothing speaks better than competitive prices and great costumer service and that's what Tim offers. i don't think he (or any of the moderators) needs to control this board in that manner.
the only thing that really needs to be done is to have this group buy moved to the proper forum. |

___For a newbie, you are coming off a bit brash, don’t you think? Have you setup a GB for an X from a non-sponsor? How about Acura neck pillows? HID’s? X accessories? It’s very simple. I don’t own this board so I always ask the Admin before attempting to setup a GB first! It’s the right thing to do irregardless of what you think is right or wrong.
___Alluu, I purchased the Texas DAR rear painted spoiler for something like $180.00 shipped. It was and still is a very attractive addition to our X. The E-Bay guy used to sell them for ~ $175.00 but his price went up ~ 9 months ago to south of $200.00. At least he has come back down again …

Isn't it also a little "brash" to assume that someone is a newbie just because they don't have 1,500+ posts? Fwiw, I don't see the harm in the initial post or the comments from nhatman. There's a separate forum for group buys, where there is no mention of any procedure involving contacting the admin.
Sorry if any of this sounds like a flame. Just my $.02, if someone wants to do the legwork to try to save fellow members a few bucks, more power to him/her. |

If a GB conflicts with a paying sponsor, do you really think anyone should be allowed to post without any concurrence from the sites owner? The next time someone needs to setup camp in your area, maybe they should just stop in and setup in your back yard. After all, it will save them money in the process irregardless if it is your home or not.
___The Admin has not stopped any GB’s that I have been interested in or started except for 1 which was in direct competition with one of AcuraMDX.org’s major sponsors. It only took a PM and reply to find out. Afterwards, I didn’t post the info. It’s not a conspiracy, it’s simple netiquette. If you choose to be oblivious to who owns the site as well as who pays for it, so be it.

Thank you so much for all your kind words. I can certainly see your point, but I'm not sure what all this attempted belittling is all about. Call me brash and oblivious (oh, wait, you already did that), but I don't see how 5 aftermarket spoilers which are clearly not directly conflicting with the sponsor's products really warrants all this attention. Perhaps if it did, the moderators of the forum would have stepped in.
My point in my original post was that someone who has a different opinion than yours on a topic for which there is no clearly stated protocol, doesn't need to be addressed in the manner that you've chosen. Net etiquette applies to fellow members as well as sponsors and administration. |

Regardless, Texasdar gives good prices, service and delivery. I would not trust just any ebay advertiser that readliy when most of us going 3rd party, have already had good experiences with an established firm. He may well be open to another GB too.
The paint job was excellent which is very important. |

Tim at hondacuraworld is a paid sponsor of this site and a forum moderator, but he is NOT admin - admin (that is his userid) is Daniel the OWNER if the site.
In the past there HAS been group buy policies that have changed with the times; I was not sure what the current policy is until Warzau clarified it. |

2) xcel, thanks for calling me a "newbie"; my apologies for not having as much time as you to post as many messages as you have. of course, you have no idea how many messages/posts i've read, what i know, or anything else for that matter before you decided to call me a "newbie".
3) my point is that, if alluu has to ask permission before notifying other members about a good deal that may be a conflict of interest to the sponsors, admin, owners, whatever of this site, then 90% of everyone here is also guilty. how many posts here talk about OTHER cars models? isn't that taking business away from this site if others talk about how much better another car is than the X? what about people selling things in the classified forum? what about people out there (like myself) who wanted to get a full size spare but didn't want to buy all 4 wheels from someone on ebay and asked around here for 3 other buyers? isn't that a group buy in a way? what about others who have posted where they got their X and for how much? isn't that competing with the sponsors?
i don't want to start a flame or anything here but what bothered me initially was that when i read your first post, xcel, it sounded a little too much like censorship to me, that's all. it's not like alluu posted some big banner advertising something.

___Please don’t let me dissuade you from trying to get a GB started. Just contact Dan after finding out about a particular deal and follow through. It will save you some money! TrimKing’s deflector’s have been purchased and commented on in the past as has Texas DAR’s. If you were to approach Texas DAR w/ a GB of 10 +, I am sure they would drop their prices a bit. When I purchased mine, it was through Spoiler Depot who resold Texas DAR’s deflector’s. A friend of mine and I were tooling down the hwy and made a 2 person GB while on the cell phone and received the discount discussed above. I am sure with 10 + pieces, Texas DAR could do something for you and some other very fortunate members here as well.

Feel like I need to chime in.
I think there is some confusion on the group buy policy. The reason why you need to notify me of the group buy is the following:
1. I need to update the home page's group buy section with the new group buy, to keep things organized.
2. It has less to do with competition between sponsors and more to do with fairness. If a vendor wants to run a group buy on the site, he needs to be a sponsor, because that's part of what sponsors pay for. However, if this is a first group buy for a vendor, and it is not in direct competition with other sponsors, I can post it for free.
In this case, please send me detailed information on the item and the group buy, including:
* Price before and after discount
* Minimum # of orders required
* Start/End dates of gorup buy
* Item description with pictures (if any)
* Ordering instructions (if any)
