I have a 2003 Nav no RES and I want to add MP3 capability, either with a CD changer or a Hard drive player.
The head unit on this vehicle is the 6 disk in dash changer.
Can someone help with this specific application?
A few of the products I am considering are:
neoCarJukebox
http://www.ssiamerica.com/products/neo35/index.shtml
Especially interested in the possibility of using the CDC module:

Neo also has portable MP3 players I am looking at.
Archos Jukebox loaded with RockBox software

Alpine CHAS-634

http://mainstreet-caraudio.com/car/alpine/chas634.htm
I would appreciate any specific information as to these choices and how it effects what interface products I choose.
Most of the choices would end up needing an aux input which I would want to have for a portable DVD player as well. However I would really prefer to be able to control the MP3 player through the headunit/steering wheel and would still need an aux input for DVD.
Even better than addressing my specific application would be a general description of exactly what the factory head unit is, what interfaces it has, and how the various blitzsafe (or other) products work with it.
Thanks in advance for helping. |

| I have the blitzsafe HON/ALP DMX V.1D got it from Ron @ Streeteffectz. It has two connections a RCA input and a plug where you connect the Alpine CHA-634. Works great you can control the cd changer with the headunit plus I used the aux to connect my daugthers DVD res. You switch between the two by pressing the + and the - on the head unit. Same to switch back. You will have to get a http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/...0KCA130B&o=&a=0 Male Ai-Net to Female M-Bus Adapter which is just 10 dollars at most places that sell the Alpine. |

Thanks zafer, I saw that thread earlier and it looks like it will be a lot of help in the install.
Making a lot of assumptions here but lets see if I get anything right..
Remove Acura 6 disk in dash changer
Plug in blitzsafe HON/ALP DMX V.1D
(Is this into an empty connector? What was that connection for?)
Reassemble
(How long is blitzsafe RCA? Do you think it would be difficult to get them into the center console?)
Now you will have a Aux R&L input and a Alpine Mbus input and could thus add the Alpine CHAS-634 as well as having another input for a portable device or DVD player.
Press FM/CD for Radio/CD as usual. When you want Aux or Alpine you press the + & - under Tune at the same time and you get Aux/Alpine (which one?) press again and you get the other.
How do you know from display if you selected Aux or Alpine?
When in Alpine mode the 1-6, the +/-, RND, RPT, as well as the steering CH button control the CD just as it does for the indash CD. And the head unit display basically work the same as it does for the indash.
When in alpine mode with the MP3 changer, how do you navigate the CD? Does it just read all folders and tracks to make a large number of tracks? What happens if you have more than 99?
Thanks |

Basically all you said is correct. when you are in the external CD it will say CD1. then the normal disc-track. if its more than 99 I assume it just shows 99? i.e. 3-99. AS for the AUX it will show CD1
1-99. The RCA cord on the blitzsafe it 6 inches long. so you will need a patch cord. |

Would it be fair to say you could control any device that supports AI-NET or is it M-Bus?
The neoCarJukebox has a $100 adapter for AI-Net so I would think it would work like the Alpine CD changer from the head unit controls.
Unless this is a problem:
"The CDC Adapter is not compatible with M-Bus protocol head units"
Which leads me back to one of my previous questions, what is the interface on the head unit without the Blitzsafe??? |

| Is there a DVD player/changer that plays MP3s as well that can be controlled by headunit/steering wheel controls though Blitzsafe or is the best we can do is select the AUX input with a DVD player? |

| I went with an mp3 player by Dension. You can see them at densionusa.com . I've been very happy with it. I haven't looked recently at the ssi model, but when I was, they hadn't been doing firmware or software updates very regularly. Something to consider. |
