I just bought a Black 03 MDX. I was thinking about getting the
Gold Emblem Kit installed before I pick it up....what do you guy's think? Also, what does the kit have, how many pieces? |

I think the kit contains the front and rear A emblem and also the MDX emblem. You will have to purchase the front gold emblem for the chrome bar that runs horizontal on the front grill. Another separate part is the gold exhaust tips. IMO, the gold emblem kit is alittle bit tacky as all of your emblem will be gold and then boom your door handles are still chrome and to make them gold would just be too much, unless you like to be like P Diddy!

You can check out the kit components at www.hondacuraworld.com. I have it on my '01 Black MDX and I think it looks good, but you need to decide if it's the look you like. Here's a couple pics.

My 2 cents worth. I had a Honda Accord and bought the Honda Gold emblem kit, and after about a year they started to flake and peel. SO I decided for the MDX I wasn't going to waste the Money.

I have had no flaking problems with the gold kit and it has been installed for nearly 2 years. I also had the gold kit on a 1999 Accord & had no problems for the 3 years I owned it (bought it in 9/98 & sold in 10/2001), and the person I sold it to has had no problems - so that's nearly 5 years with no flaking.

I've got the gold kit on '03 X and like the way it looks. However, each to his/her own taste. I bought the kit from HondaAcuraWorld and installed it myself. The center piece in the grill was the hardest part (took about 2 hours, going slowly) and about another 2 hours, or less for the other parts.

Some colors wear gold better than others. I've got a black one and considered the gold package, but then thought not. I'm glad I stuck with the standard chrome this time. IMO, the sandstone looks good with the gold though.

I like the Black and Gold. Light colors with gold, well, that's something else.
