I thought I would give this kit a shot. It looks like a quality product. I am also going to order their full dash kit as well since I am pleased with this one. I don't know how this compares with the OEM RES kit since I have not seen one yet.

And the after. Not a perfect job, but since I don't have to look at it when I'm driving, no big deal. It was also good practice for the dash kit when I get it. Everything still operates as normal. Not a bad kit for around $47 shipped.

You have to redo that button. Just use some floss to take it off then use some 3m double sided tape.

It would have looked better, if the plod curved and extender over . the controls. Also as Manus stated the button is crocked.

It does look a little crooked, unless of course, it's the angle of the pic.

Thanks Manus. I'll give that a try.

Warzau,
I agree. I wish I knew what the OEM one was like to compare.

Hey Phins2rt,

are you talking about the complete kit for $168.30? i am really interest in the aluminum or brush aluminum kit, what kind of material the RES kit that you order? do you have to remove the orginal or just use 3M tape over it?

i would really like to replace my wood trim with the aluminum trim...i know the wood trim look luxurious(althought it's fake) my car is White, my interior is Quartz (i am curious how many people have this combination, i know there alot of white w/saddle) so in my mind the aluminum just match better with the interior...

anyways, if any have replace their wood trim, is the job easy?

clb4life,
I just plan on getting the OEM matched kit. I think any kit from them would be an enhancement meaning that the kit only covers areas on the dash not already covered with the original plood. Good luck on your quest.

Thanks for the pictures. I still wonder what the OEM RES wood panel looks like. I definitely would prefer it to extend over the controls. Also, I don't know why they feel the need for a cutout over the imprinted word "OPEN" in front of the screen.

Overall it looks nice.

hey Phin,

do you mean that the kit will add more piece to what is already there in the car and NOT replacing the current pieces?

in that case, anyone know of other product??? help, please, i really want to get rid of my wood trim!! hihi, but that about the only thing i dislike bout the X :) i love it to death

thanks

Thanks RPitterle. I am assuming that the OEM is very similar to this kit but that is just an ASSUmptIon!!

Hi LL,
It is the angle of the pic, except for the misaligned button cover.
