Less than a week and I already have a tiny chip in the hood.
It looks like just the clear coat, not the paint. I have found lots of info here about using the touch up paint and langka but is there something more appropriate to just fill in such a little nick? |

Thanks looks good, but no GM in the Nashville area carries this. The minimum order is 10 so they couldn't get me one. They did say the price would only be $11.50 if they had it though.
I'll try searching for someone that will ship it reasonably, anybody ever try ChipMagic
The movie makes it look easy.... |

I've used Chip Kit by Pro Motorcar Products, Inc. The little kit includes a "prep-pen, sanding pen, clear coat sealer, applicators, micro-fine polishing sandpapers, special flexible sanding block, ultra fine polishing compound and instructions. It is a great little kit, but I don't remember where I bought it.
But take a look at this chip kit at Performance Products. I have been buying Porsche and Mercedes stuff form them for years and also general care care stuff. This kit looks like the same one. The instructions with the chip kit I have say Action Paint Chip Repair Kit so I think it is the same kit.

Also take a look at this site:

Funny you should mention this, I washed the X last night and found almost the same thing, tiny chip in the hood, first one.:cursin: However mine goes beyond the clear coat and into the paint. I am going to try my touch up paint mainly for protection, cuz I am sure I will still be able to see it. |

I found two small chips on my hood, immediately ordered the front deflector from Hondacuraworld. I was going to get it anyways and that was the straw that broke the camels back. Now the deflector covers up the two spots and hopefully no more, less chips.
BTW, looks sharp, even got the approval of my wife! |

I showed the wife the chip and said "we need the deflector". I think I need to talk to Tim. Thanks m2pc. What color X do you have?, any pics? |

I had a front deflector on my Isuzu Trooper and even got the OEM one.
It was noisy and ended up rubbing and scratching the paint under it when a small rubber bumper came off and I didn't notice.
I do not want this to happen on the X, is there anyway you can see that it would have a problem like this or is it mounted in such a way it could never touch the paint? |

I've heard the same experience from others, so I thought I'd ask what other orgers have seen: Why is it that rust will occur within days of a chip on a foreign car, but almost never on a GM or Ford? My Olds has had a couple really deep gouges on the hood from airborne gravel striking it and thats how it stayed for years. One tiny chip along the rim of the MDXs hood above the grille, and two days later its brown. Same with Toyota...
I used the fiberglass pen from the kit I posted above to clean the rust totally out, then touched it up. Now I can't find the exact spot again to take a picture of it. |

Hi Whynotmdx:
___The Formfit front deflector even without the Bumpons are as sturdy as anyone can imagine and do not touch the bumpons while the X is parked. I won’t say you wouldn’t have a problem at hwy speeds if a Bumpon was not in place but the deflector probably doesn’t touch the bumpons at those speeds either? I am just not sure. In any case, I know you will have a problem if you don’t have a deflector or clear bra in place at hwy speeds. Only the deflector is at risk if you install one.
___Good Luck
