I've been receiving an increased volume of spam lately, and while I immediately delete it from my Inbox, some of the recent pitches have Subject lines that are at least entertaining to read.
I thought I'd share one from this morning...and thought others might have some to share, too!

| My wife just shakes her head when she sees me playing games on pop ups from Orbitz. My favorite is the volleyball but Golf is a close second. Just X out of the ad when you click it once and then you are free to enjoy your pop up. Oh man I just read my post.....must....get....life...:) :) :) |

 I love those orbitz games too. I always play those when they come up. Volleyball is the best, some times i can get volleys for like a minute. The one where you're a bell boy is hard though. They need to make a baseball one... but i think there is 1 for some reason. |

Wait till you see the hot air ballon one. There are actual high scores from other people playing the Orbitz spam. |

| What do you folks with kids do, if anything, about all the porn floating around? I must receive 8-12 a day and some of the titles are pretty descriptive. I guess by now kids have seen it all. My kids are grown up but if I had a 12 year old daughter I'd be concerned. |

Worm,
Had this one today:
Must Have Farm & Barn Products
My first take was one of those beastiality sites but turns out it was from Country Home Products advertising weed torches, farm jacks, tub-trugs, stock tank cleaner and trailer aids. Somehow they must know I own a John Deere lawn tractor and thus agriculturally inclined! |

I think we may need to share our spam with Maxine Waters
"I don't know what spam is," said Representative Maxine Waters (D-California) near the end of Tuesday's hearing by the House Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security Subcommittee. But Waters opposes limits on e-mail, fax, and telephone communications: "I'm just not in the business of that kind of censorship," she said.
She doesn't list an email address:
http://www.house.gov/waters/contact.htm
Perhaps just sending printed copies would be sufficient. Unless of course we would get fined or something for sending porn in the mail....
P.S. I use BlueBottle to control spam. It is very effective and FREE!
SpamPal looks like another good free solution. |

How's this one? Not sure what it's intent is, as it is "backwards" and asks for credit card info if you AGREE with the messge. Maybe an attempt to get upset people to respond to the e-mail address for who knows what purpose? Really, though, there needs to be some serious action taken against spam and spammers.

| I've received a couple of new-type spams today. Basically, they are from "system administrator" or "mail delivery subsystem" and say that my outgoing message had fatal errors or did not reach the recipients. Of course, where it was going was to nobody or nowhere that I e-mailed. Each message has an attachment. The first has an ATTxxxx.dat file, and the second has a "text" envelope icon attached. I'm not opening either attachment (although, as far as I know, a true "dat" file itself is probably harmless, and the second is just another e-mail or message I'm supposed to read, possibly containing the real virus?). I was just wondering if anyone else is starting to get these. Maybe the latest in spam marketing, or some attempt at a virus. My virus software didn't pick up anything. |

| Thats the Novarg/MyDoom worm. |

| Thanks. I've never clicked on a virus attachment yet, and have no plans to do so. From what I have read in the mass media about this MyDoom virus, it presents an "error" message that entices a user to click on it. M e-mails didn't do that. My virus software is up to date (McAfee) and didn't pick these up as viruses. Reading up on the virus on the Sophos site, what I received is very similar to what's going around. |
