I got my MDX last week from the dealer and was told by the salesman that I should not wax the car. Can that be true? Does the factory wax them before shipping them or is the salesman simply uninformed (or am I wrong about waxing new cars) Thanks.
BaldEagle
Congratulations on getting your new MDX.

The salesman, as can be case, is FOS.

Wax or Zanio as soon as possible to protect the finish and make your new MDX look real good.

Ive said it before so here we go - did the dealers brain fall out of his ass the last time he took a dump? As baldeagle said you should zaino that think as soon as possible. You want to protect it. check out www.zainostore.com and this site for the proper zaino tricks and tips. I was skeptical at first but once I tried it, the skepticism was over. Good luck.

Hi Keremoner:

___RESISTANCE IS FUTILE. YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED … as the not so old saying goes.

___Once you follow the Zaino treatment procedure, you will not be going back to a std. Turtle wax or whatever type wax treatment you may have used in the past, I can almost guarantee ;)

___Good Luck

Congrats on the new X keremoner, I agree with the rest, Zaino as soon as possible. Picked up my X in mid April and have 6 coats on already, looks great and makes cleaning easy. By the way nice color.

If you do a search you'll find it but I would buy Z2, Z5, Z6, Z7 and the ZFX stuff. I would also buy the clay bar. Just be prepared it will take about 6 hours for a full zaino detail but a lot of the time is waiting.

In my opinion not waxing a new vehicle is another one of those urban myths. Why wouldn't you want to wax a new car?

I'm not into zaino myself though, too lazy and not enough time or money. I use S100 from the Harley dealers and it looks great.
Homer2
Yes, one of the great urban myths continued by people who should really know better, shouldnt they?

Come on now, they are picking your pocket of a lot of money - shouldnt they know of what they spew ?

Its like a clothing salesperson telling you not to wash them for a while - till they are well broken in and the colour etc has set . . .

sheeeesh . ..

oh, and after extensive testing frostya . ., it has been found that Meguiars wont work on an MDX . . . :2: ;)
something in the paint that Acura uses . . . ;)
Dale MDX
This myth of not waxing a new car probably comes from the procedures people are/were told to follow after having a car repainted. For most repaints, the finish isn't baked on, and therefore solvents continue to evaporate, and the paint continues to cure for weeks or longer after it is painted. Even if new MDX's were painted this same way, by the time they are in the hands of the consumer, they would be OK to wax.
