I just picked up my 03 MDX this past weekend and would like some advice on maintaining the luster of the sagebrush finish. Any recommendations on body side molding?
Thanks

Congratulations and welcome grumpygolfer... nice name...
:D

I'd recommend BSM's I like the look, and they offer minimum protection... others don't, It's a personal choice.

As for "luster maintenance", do searches on "Zaino". You'll have days of reading material.

Thanks, where did you opt for your BSM? I'm not sure if there is an optimal place. I plan on having the factory side step put on and I think that may offer some protection.

Acura furnishes a cardboard installation template for BSM. With the template, it's easy. Without it, you better be Michelangelo.
THey will provide a degree of protection, but they are not a forcefield. You can still get dings, especially along the upper "character line".

What coincidence, I got my sagebrush pearl '03 last week from the dealer as well and I live in fairfax also. Are you going to wax your MDX anytime soon? Pohanka told me not to bother for a year or so. Did you get yours from them, if so, what did they tell you?

Blasphemy! The new acrylic polymers (Zaino, Klasse) will make your car handle better and get better gas mileage, as well as improve your love life. Everybody knows this.

Hey Keremoner!
Yes I did get mine from Pohanka, you must have gotten the other Sagebrush that came in, there were two. I didn't discuss exterior care with anyone there. My wife wanted to wait for a Silver one that was coming in but not until September, personally I liked the Sagebrush and seeing as it is my vehicle I won the discussion (how rare). It is such an attractive color I wanted to make sure that I can preserve its great looks for as long as possible. I will make it a point to check on their recommendations of exterior care, I have a connection in the service department, which is why I purchased my first Acura (02 TL) from them. I have had great luck with them in both sales and service. I would highly recommend Larry Stepp in sales for a great, no hassle buying experience. I may take the advice of some of the people here and try the Zaino product line.

Thanks for the advice, do you recommend the kit that they offer or should I opt for several of their individual selections?

Thanks again for the advice, any recommendations for a full size spare? Did you get your side step from the dealer, are you happy with it?

One forum member bid on and won a set of four used 03 MDX touring wheels. He received them, and shipped them to three others in a small "group buy" . WIth shipping, the cost was about $125 each. New Wheels are about $200 each from Tim. The "coordinating member" was unduly hassled by the receiving, inspecitng, and re-shipping, so he didn't have a good time. I would recommend spending the extra $ and getting a nice new rim from Tim or a cheap dealer.
There were a batch of used Michelin Cross Terrains on Ebay from haps recycling for $70 after shipping. Tim sells new ones for $145.

After the thrill of the bargain hunt was over, I regretted my decision to save $150 on a used wheel and tire combo. I should have gotten a new set that I could trust in five wheel rotation. I blow $150 on much less useful things than my life.

My hitch step is a rear hitch step from Go Rhino. It works very well in protecting the rear bumper.
