Has anyone just added the HID fog lights to the MDX and if so what will it cost as well as what will installation run. I am afraid to add the regular headlights because I might fail inspection in my state. I am thinking if the fogs will work I can turn them off and pass. Let me know.

Could run $400-$600 for the HID set, and $50-$100 for the install at a local stereo shop (very easy install may be able to do yourself). Don't worry about inspection because they seem to just look that the headlights work not the type of lightening system. If your auto inspections are done by has inspection the state itself, I'm not sure if they look for it? Do a search there are many threads on the topic. I had purchased throught company below:

I installed the hid ballasts for lows behind the fogs in case I get in trouble since they're for off road use only. I could always say I was just testing them out for lows, but they're really fogs :D (if they'll eat that). Using that particular location allows the cable from the ballast to reach both low and fog positions. The lows and fogs both use 9006 bulbs, so I can easily interchange them on the spot (you really don't have to remove the fog lights housing to replace the bulb, its reachable from the engine bay). You could install them like this and swap them around for inspection. XenonDepot has a gb going on.
