I have been driving my mdx for 2 months and couldn't be happier. However, I have noticed when I am breaking for longer than a minute or two, I notice a slight "lurch". It feels as if I have slightly let up on the break, which I have not done. Has anyone noticed anything similar????
It could be the ABS break was acting if the road surface was slippery.
Good thought regarding the ABS system but this does not happen on slippery roads. Seems to happen on all roads after about 30 seconds or 1 minute on break. Thanks for the thought.
This happened on my '94 Vigor and also happens on my MDX. Because of my experience with the Vigor, I consider it normal (vacuum assist?)

This is Acura's adaptive logic transmission trying to "help" you. If you'll glance at the tach when this happens, you'll notice that the engine rpm increases. The transmission downshifts to aid braking. Conversely, when you let up on the brake or your deaceleration decreases, it will often upshift, depending on a number of factors. It IS distracting at times but I have gotten used to it...

Mogur:
I think you are correct. It feels like a transmission assist thing, certainly not a problem. I have also noticed its eagerness to shift to fifth (or some high gear) as soon as you begin to coast. Mostly to save fuel.

Mogur,
I must still be high on new car aromas because I have not yet observed this subtlety. Good arm-chair diagnosis. Have not heard about this "smart" transmission before. That's why I belong to the forum, even a old dog like me can learn new tricks!!:D
