Wow! Congratulations! Please be sure to share your experiences with your WRX STi. It looks to be an awesome machine. Please let us know how it compares to your previous S2000's too! |

y2ks2k,
Way to go. I hear the WRX is one hot car. Not to rain on your party but I thought the S2000 was a more refined car compared to the WRX. If horsepower is what you want, you picked the right vehicle.
Share us your experience with us when you get a chance.

| That's good! I thought you said you're going to sell the MDX. Why not go with the EVO instead of the STI???? |

I've been considering the WRX for 2 years--and the Sti sounds super. Anyway you can still find room for more Hondas. For example, in addition to the MDX, I have a VFR Interceptor, Valkyrie, Rancher ES (ATV) and a Honda Snowblower. Keep the Hondas coming, I love 'em. |

| I would not call either of My S2000's refined. They are pretty rock bottom bare bones. People said the STI would be like that but I find it is packed full of options and comfort for normal day driving and is a LOT better for normal day driving. Yet, the Sti is also more "Hard Core" performance all around.. all in all they feel the same. he Sti just has the power form normal driving. The S2000 like most DOHC VTEC Hondas are either on or off. You have to flog it to get a mid range acceleration. That being said, the S2000 is an AWESOME weekend and track car. I am utterly impressed with the STi's power and I have yet to break 4K RPMS... The turbo isn¡¦t even getting warm yet. I find that the STI does not drive as harsh as people say, it actually takes bumps pretty good, Id say better then My S2k's did. It is about as loud as the S2000, especially from tire noise, the S2000's originated from wind and engine noise due to the top. I¡¦ve been *told* that the Sti blows away the S2000¡¦s track times, Ill let you know when I track the Sti for the first time ƒº |

I looked at the S2000 when they first came out, and understood that you have to keep up the Revs to get the Performance out of them. The reason I didn't buy one is CA dealers were firm on charging $10K over MSRP. I told them for just a little more I could buy a Porsche Boxster--So I did. They tried to convince me that the S2000 was limited production and would be a classic--I don't think So!! Great combination: MDX and Boxster. |

We'd love to hear about your track experience with the STi.
I haven't seen an S2000 vs. WRX STi magazine comparison yet, just STi vs. Evo.
FWIW, MotorWeek did not test the vehicles at the same time so the comparison is not 100% valid. Still, assuming these numbers are not that far off, the STi does do very, very impressively.
Power:
S2000: 240 hp, 153 lb ft torque
STi: 300 hp, 300 lb ft torque
Weight:
S2000: 2,810 lbs
STi: 3,263 lbs
0-60:
S2000: 6.5 seconds
STi: 5.1 seconds
1/4 mile:
S2000: 14.9 seconds 96 mph
STi: 13.8 seconds @ 100mph
MotorWeek's S2000 0-60 times seems slow, I've seen reports of 5.8 seconds. But either way, the STi packs a lot of wallop. |

Those are the slowest numbers I have seen for the Sti and S2000 in almost any review. The people drag racing them have been doing high 12's and Guys in S2000's have hit high 13's. I think these numbers are more relistic:
Road & Track (september 2003):
S2000 Tested 8-03
Sti Tested 6-03
Quarter:
S2000 14.1
Sti 13.3
0-60
S2000 5.5
Sti 4.9
Lateral G's
S2000 .88
Sti .88
I can say this as an S2000 owner. A 14.1 quarter is a 1 in 50 launch dumping at 7K RPS's. I regualarly dragged my S2000 at Woodburn drag strip and my average was around 14.7.
I think those guys at motorweed dont know how to drive :) |

Could you have transposed the numbers? 6/03 Road & Track has a 4.9 second 0-60 for the STi. Haven't seen the 8/03 review for the S2000.
Yes, the MotorWeek numbers are definitely pokey. Especially for the S2000 -- I suspect their testing conditions for the S2000 were less than ideal (which is why I like to see head-to-head tests). The disparity of the STi numbers isnt quite as bad.
Either way, the STi definitely has a power edge over the S2000. What a vehicle. |

y2ks2k,
Thanks for setting me straight. I don't know any S2000 owners so I based my opinion on the car magazines. Let us know how you like your new ride as you get more familiar with it.

I got them backwards. I edited the post correctly. |

y2ks2k,
I see in your sig that you have owned two S2000s. I was just wondering did any of your S2000s ever burn oil. The reason I'm asking is because I have a chance to get my hands on a 2001 model off this retired guy for a decent price. I also had a '99 Integra GS-R which I just traded in for a MDX. My GS-R since new burnt like 1/4 litre of oil weekly with normal city driving, no racing. And when I pushed it hard, even more oil needed to be added daily. I took it back to Acura under warranty and they checked everything and said that the VTEC engine is suppose to burn oil, but I don't think it should burn that much that I have to check my oil daily. Especially for a new car with no mileage.
I would like to know if you have experienced any of this oil burning with either of your S2000s considering its a high reving VTEC engine.
I almost half afraid now to buy another Vtec Honda because of my GS-R experience.
thanks |

| My 2nd S2000 Burned a little oil but it was not bad. None of my DOHC VTEC Hondas burned oil that bad. |

crmsnidol,
I know the MDX is also VTEC but its not a high reving sports car. My parents have a TL and it doesn't consume any oil so I figured Hondas luxury VTEC are more tame since most owners don't redline all the time. Am I right in assuming this! |

Dunno about that :) I bounced of the red line of my TLs as much as I did my DOHC VTEC del Sol :) But thats just me. They all just like to keep revving up and up :) |
