I got infected two days ago by the blaster worm. A real pain because it has your computer reboot every 5 to 10 minutes while you are on the web. This worm infects users of Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. For more information:

If you have not been infected you need to install the patch ASAP that is mentioned in the above link.

If you are already infected you still need to install the patch for the removal tool to be effective.

Once my company discovered the virus/worm two days ago, the network group decided to block/filter RPC port. :)

I have a friend who got this while on a trip. I tried helping him over the phone, but I didn't want him messing around with RegEdit (he's a fairly inexperienced user).

Here is a pretty good article on how to repair the damage, from PC Magazine:

I have been having a serious problem with an email virus. I believe it is rampant in the email server. I have scanned both my PCs and they are clear.
At least 2 or 3 times a week I get infected attachments from random emails. some have recognizable addresses, I just delete them.
I only scanned them originally to make sure, now I just delete them without even opening the email, of course I never open the attachment.
Others have recieved infected emails with my email address as originator.
I have notified Yahoo..I am sure they have tons of similar inquiries..anyway, considering going to another email service.
Not sure that will solve or spread the problem.

You most likely have been infected with the klez virus if others are getting infected emails from you. Go to here to fix it:

Doesn't matter - this virus attacks all versions of Windows. Go to this site from McAfee or use the symantec link in my earlier post.

That is correct, the Klez does not discriminate. Got it both at work (Windows ME) and at home on my old computer (Windows 95) over a year ago.

The msblaster (aka lovsan) will infect only Windows XP, NT, 2000, and Server 2003. Or at least that's the case so far. These worms do have a way of evolving so everyone should beware.

Apparently not. I am not detecting any viruses with NAV but have the symptoms.

It depends on how often you update your virus definitions table.... Even the relatively old Klez virus has different strains, and mutations. If your definitions aren't updated to reflect the newer virus updates, you might as well not have any anti-virus software at all.:4:

I get autoupdates from symantec..and scan regularly..but even that may not keep you from using the 'tool'

I update my virus list almost every day if I needed to. Is that enough protection???
