This will probably be my final post to this forum. This past saturday, I walked into a Nissan dealership and traded in my '02 MDX Silver Touring w/NAV for a 350Z.
I know, big difference in car. After getting married this summer, my wife and I decided if we were going to have a little 2 seater, now is probably the best time to do it. Bear in mind that I am 26.
Anyways, just wanted to let you know I got 32,500 for the trade in. I had 9500mi on the car. I pretty much got what KBB lists the car for. Since my Z cost me 32,500 also, I saved the whole 8.6% tax.
I had no running boards or steps. I took the cargo tray/cover & net (which I got from Tim) out and gave it to a friend who just bought an '03 MDX. Hopefully, everything fits. And lastly, for those who remember, I was my passenger side door was hit on the 2nd day I got the car and never fixed it.
That's all. Occassionally, people look for info on how much the car is worth, so I just wanted to pass this information along.

I would like to hear about the 350Z after you have had a few weeks to try it out.
Just because you sold your MDX it doesn't mean you can't post here. Being an ex-MDX owner qualifies you to make valid contributions IMHO. Many active posters here have never owned an MDX. |

Hey Doofy, I hate you man.
That's the car I really wanted, but my wife convinced me to go for the MDX.
Don't get me wrong people, I love my X, but if I had my way (in other word, if I am not whipped) I would have bought the Z.
I guess I will enjoy the future Z some where down the road, when I start growing some gray hair.

Funny, my wife just told me that she wants the next car to be a two seater (We have 2 SUV's now). The X for family and friends, the two seater for just us. We have a 4 year old and an infant. |

Congratulations on the 350Z!
I'm also 26, getting married next year, and everyone is surprised when I tell them that I'm buying the MDX. But my fiance and I are pretty happy to have one big car and one coupe (and maybe someday, a weekend car... sigh.) |

Did you see the DVD that Nissan distributed?. Its got the Z cruising thru Prague with the whole city shut down. Simply amazing. |

'Ya know, Nissan does make an SUV based on the same FM platform as the 350Z - The FX45!!!:D
has a great 315 hp super torquey V8, 20 inch wheels, pulls 0.87g on the skidpad (C&D Feb '03) which is better than most sports cars, brakes from 70 mph in 160 ft! 0-60 in 6.3 and 15 flat in the 1/4 mile.
Casts about the same "shadow" as an MDX.
Actually, I have both vehicles and I absolutely love the FX45. Has lots of fun toys too - Altessa AWD system for Nissan's awesome Skyline GTR, intelligent cruise control (keeps the distance to the car ahead), rear TV camera, wireless headphone DVD for the kids in the rear, Great voice guided Nav system with Birdseye view, radiolink keys (no need for a key to enter or start vehicle), in dash 6 like the MDX, etc. A bit pricey with all this stuff at around 54K (can be had for about 51K) but cheaper than an SUV and a sports car.:1:
Or you could just get the FX35 that has the exact same engine as the 350z (280 HP VQ30DE ubiquitous Nissan V6). |

Doofy, I know exactly how you feel... I am 26 also.
My wife wanted to get a Z or another G35 coupe, but we decided to be practical and got the MDX instead. I've been "stuck" driving the MDX w/ the sh!tty bose for the past 3 weeks, while my wife drives the G35 w/ upgraded sound system. I broke my finger so I haven't had the time to work on the MDX's stereo system. :mad: |

i was just in a nissan dealership 3 weeks ago looking for the base model but did not have one. i was gonna trade my X too, since the wife has a highlander already and we don't have any kids yet.
I guess i just can't give up the convenience of the X's great navi and space for hauling home improvement stuffs, etc

i do like the G35 cuope also--more space and a back seat just in case
though less power and heavier, plus the stick shift costs more than the auto trans
this is also one reason i did not push through--still undecided bet the two |
