Okay, thank to this great site and great instructions, I installed
the Infiniti's in my base 03 MDX WITHOUT A PROBLEM. :D
I now plan on replacing the SUB and replacing the AMP...DO i HAVE AN AMP? If so where is it?
What sub should I go with?
Thanks |

Lots and lots of info on this subject, so a Search will give you more than this:
Yes, you have an subwoofer amp. It's about the size of a pack of cards, tucked in front of the the subwoofer about an arms length away. It's been tested at abut 12 watts.
There are many subs available- teh Polk 10dvc is common. The major constraint to a bolt-in is the 4 7/8 max depth, the wimpy stock amp, and the lack of an enclosure.
Many people are disappointed by the lack of improvement in switching to a new sub,, unless you amp it. If you amp it, the next upgrade is a custom enclosure. |

| "Best" is highly subjective. There are a number of different sub/amp combos that have been used that members have been happy with. Search is, as always, your friend. |

Hi Golfer:
___I performed the Polk (non-DVC) sub install and it was an upgrade as the stock Bose POS Sub was an embarrassment. That being said, this thing needs to be amp’ed. As for the enclosure, how much do you want to spend? Someone stuffed the area behind the sub with some type of pads to imitate an enclosure and it sounded like it worked to some degree but an Amp is what I will be installing in the future for the next level. I just don’t want to lose the head unit as it has some nicely integrated RES features …

The good news is that you don't have to lose the head unit to do an amp upgrade. I didn't want to lose the functionality of the RES head unit either. |
