Hi, I'm new to the forum (this is my first post), and actually picked up my 2003 Base MDX about a week ago. I've done a lot of searching through the threads, but haven't found definitive answers to the following questions...I'm hoping some of you could shed some light!

1) When referring to the "Premium" sound system, is this referring to the base model Alpine with 7 speakers (which I have)?
2) I've read a lot about the Alpine CHAS-634 CD Changer being able to play MP3s through the stock head-unit. Can anyone confirm that this will also play WMA (Windows Media) format?
3) In order to add the Alpine CHAS-634 CD Changer to work with the stock head unit and steering controls, do I need the BLITZ adapter? the HONIL adapter? or both?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

1. "Premium model" is base model mdx which is yours and mine. "Premium sound system" _could_ be bose system. I think people will say "premium model sound system" when referring to our model sound system. (just a theory)

2. Its CHA-S634 and I dont think so. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/...a=1&cc=01&avf=Y

3. see above answer

I'm about 99% sure the answer to #2 is no. It's not mentioned anywhere in the specs sheet. Honestly, I don't think any of the current Alpine changers support WMA. You'd have to look into a head unit for that .. something in the CDA-98xx line.

Darn...I couldn't find any mention of WMA in the product specs, so I was pretty sure the Alpine didn't support it (which sucks cuz I just got through encoding all my cds to WMA format...d'oh). Hopefully as it becomes a more widely adopted format, more will support it (is that wishful thinking?). I just figured y'all are the experts and have made some pretty radical changes to the X...perhaps someone had attempted to use WMA with the Alpine :)

I'm not ready to replace the head-unit at this point (I will be in "babying" phase for quite a while)...just thought a Changer add-on would be an easy solution... :)

Also, thanks for the clarification about the "premium" title, as well as the BLITZ adapter. What is the HONIL then?

Thanks much for the info!
