After finally getting all of the components together and waiting for the return of the LCD sent back to the manufacturer after finding it DOA, I had the install completed last Friday night - just in time for an overnight trip to Lancaster County, PA (Amish country) which is about an hour and a half away. On the ride up we watched the slideshow of our trip to Disney and watched most of Tarzan. On the way back we (meaning wife and daughter in back seat) watched Hercules.
The screen is the 7" widescreen TView 7002 (the same that MDXTrous has). I got it for $270 at onlinecarstereo.com. I had the screen for 4 months before the initial install appointment and returning the screen for replacement was NO PROBLEM.
The screen is showing a custom-made SVCD of the Festival of the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom in Disneyworld. I used Ulead DVD PictureShow 2 and burned over 300 images set to music on an 80-min CD-R. The show runs 28 mins. |

| The DVD is a vacuum-loaded Boss 2000 that is short enough to fit in the console area. Two things I need to do. (1) Clean up the area aroudn the DVD with black foam to cant the player toward the river and (2) fix the Not An Ashtry. You'll notice it doesn't close all of the way. There is an AUX DPDT switch in the top that allows me to switch the Blitzsafe between the DVD and my MP3 player (Creative Zen). I need to shave out part of the ashtray to get it to close. Any suggestions how? |

| This pic shows the driver's view out the back with the screen down. I'm sitting in my normal position and pointing the camera level to get a realistic view of what I see out the back when the screen is down. I know others are concerned about obstructed view. So was I but this isn't bad. |

| We spent the day in Dutch Wonderland. It's older that Disneyworld but not nearly as big. We had a great day and took some great shots. I think my daughter was more enthralled with this bunny we saw than the rides. |

| Figured I'd post a pic of my TW debadged rear. The car was pretty dirty when I took this in the spring but you get the idea. The acuramdx.org sticker went on crooked so I removed the .org part on the rear window. I'll probably remove the rest soon. Looks pretty bad partially on. |

Thanks. Actually in those pics you can't see the tint I added. These pictures are better. |

Thanks. I just put the BSM's on last week so if I get around to washing the X tomorrow I might just snap a few pics and post 'em. I'll also take some shots of the sub box. Nothing fancy and not built into the exisiting space. Just a black box but it's removeable and that's what I needed. My wife hates bass in music. She says it makes it hard for her to breathe. Of couse, I listen to primarily heavy metal so that might be the problem. |

It's the remote eye for the DVD so my wife can hit it from the back seat. The DVD player and LCD screen both came with remotes. |

Could you tell me the cost of the DVD player and where you got it from.
Also, would you know if it plays back DVD-R (backed up DVD movies).
Thanks,

Hi Crmsnidol,
Very nice pics, cute daughter too.
Your X looks very clean, inside and out. I haven't had much desire/need for the RES, but the mp3 thing has me thinking . . . hmm, might be in my plans, I could do a lot of damage to passengers with a set up like that. How do you like it-even though you are into heavy metal (can't be any worse than bagpipes :2: ) Is it an easy set-up? |

I got it from millionbuy.com. It's the Boss DVD 2000 but they have the updated model Boss DVD 2500 too. I got it for $120.
I've tested it with CD-R, CD Audio, MP3, SVCD, VCD and DVD+R successfully. I haven't tried -R yet but my DVD burner comes in the mail tomorrow. :) |

Thanks Greatscot.
Yes, it is a very easy set up. Because I use the Blitzsafe to aux in the secondary audio, I have a small red switch in the "Not an ashtray" that I can toggle between MP3 and DVD player audio-out. I have the RCA's under the center console and up underneath the armrest with a hole inside the armrest for the wire. I can set the Zen to shuffle play and just leave it in the armrest. I need to get a one-to-two power adapter so I can have the Zen and cell phone on the same power line. It's a $7 item at Radio Shack but I've been too busy (lazy) to get it. I highly recommend this player for ease of use and sound. The newer Zen MX has a nicer layout with the buttons and I would gladly pay the additional $30 for that upgrade.
I should mention that more often than not I'm listening to an 80's mix of approx 200 songs on the Zen in the car. Most of my trips are short. In the mornings it's Howard Stern for the ride in and MP3's for the ride home. I know you said Fish (former frontman for Marillion) isn't your kind of music but don't go knockin' heavy metal now. :) |

Nice pics, crmsnidol!
I have a similar X and really like the tinting you did. Have you run into any problems w/ the law w/ the front tinting? Do you foresee any problems w/ inspection having it?
Thanks

Well, I have 4 years until the next inspection so the tint can stay for awhile. No problems with Johnnie Law. Passed many cops and have not been pulled over. I do however, bypass a road inspection every Friday because they will pull me over for the tint.
With my wife's CR-V (also fully tinted) I have it removed every two years for inspection and then reapplied the next day for another 2 years. The guy that does my tinting gives me a break because I come back every 2 years.
The MDX only had 20% applied to the front 2 windows. |
