while driving on the highway, some kid changed lanes right into me, leaving a dent/scrape that runs along the two doors on the passenger side, as well as the rear quarter panel. Fortunately, nobody was injured, and the kid admit to the cop that he hit us (he claimed only becuase he was cut-off by someone else, and he had no choice....B.S.). Regardless, assuming his insurance will front the bill, I would like to make sure that the body work done to fix this is "like new". i.e. no bondo, filler, cheap paint, etc... is it considered unreasonable to replace both doors, and the rear quarter panel (r.q.p. looks like its one piece which goes all the way to the front A pillar)? I really just don't want to deal with cracks, and paint peels years later...Also, i just called the dealer, and they do not do body work, rather they recommend a local body shop. Any advice on this topic would be appreciated, a reputable body shop in Rockland County, NY, what i should say/ask for when shopping for a body shop?
i will post pics later this week. |

I cant recommend a body shop in Rockland but here are a few tips I learned from my last accident.
1. Get the police report even if he admitted fault.
2. Get a claim # from His insurance company.
3. Wait for the insurance company to determine it was the others drivers fault, only then should you go to a body shop.
4. After leaving it at the body shop, you can rent a car without cost to you, by providing the insurance claim #. They will bill the guy's insurance.
5. After your car is fixed, get a letter from your insurance company stating that the accident was not your fault.
Good Luck! |

| Sorry to hear about your troubles. I lived in New City almost 10 years ago, and I used a terrific body shop on Route 303 just south of Route 59. Sorry, but I can't remember the name, it's on the right hand side of Route 303. Good Luck! |
