Great Deals to be found on the X everywhere soon? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi All:

___I was visiting the Acura of Libertyville’s (North Eastern IL.) web site this afternoon (they E-Mailed me a $29.95 oil change special – kind of a rip ...) when I checked on the # of X’s in their inventory. They are currently showing 19. If this is the case, most prospective X owners should be thinking in the $2K to $3K below MSRP or possibly better. If this kind of inventory is available here in Northern IL., it won’t be long and you should see this kind of inventory in your locale as well … I would still wait for an 04 given the depreciation and hopefully new features (rear passenger side air curtains?) but the X is coming up against quite a bit of competition and the deals will hopefully follow even on the 04’s …

But this time last year I posted the info when GIANT shipments of 02s showed up at Napleton, McG Westmont, and Conti. They were NOT giving 'em away. The eventually sold 'em down to one or two when the 03's showed up. I suspect that is all we are seeing. A little "up tick" in supply as the factory gets ready to switch over.

P.S. We drove right by Libertyville Acura Sunday and the renov8tress said "OMIGAWD would look at all of 'em", but I reminded her how I was stalking 'em last year. BTW I think we also drove right by the Gerdes estate as we came down Hunt Club Rd taking the scenic route back from the Ren Faire (to avoid the lovely parking lot also know as I-94 South) I was trying to figure out where you buy your "high MPG gasosline" :D :D :D

I put a deposit down on mine about a month ago. The dealer showed me a list of the production dates of the cars they are expecting in. They told me (and I believe it) that the cars on that list are the last run of 2003s... it was a fairly long list, but they weren't expecting the 2004s until mid-October. All of those MDXes on the list are supposed to last until mid-October. Many of them were already spoken for (except for the ones with nav + res.)

Additionally... if you're looking at their inventory online, that doesn't tell you which cars are already taken. I am looking at my dealer's online inventory right now, and my car is there, same VIN and everything! I can't pick it up until this weekend because I have to deal with the RMV (the dealer is out of state, and I don't have a trade-in, so I have to go get a new registration and new plates.) So someone looking at the online inventory would think that a silver MDX Touring pkg is available, when in reality, it's MINE! :)

Maybe in another month, prices will be more negotiable, but I can't wait that long (and I certainly can't wait for the 2004s.)

I have been looking at the MDX for quite some time yet (since JANUARY!!) and working with several Chicago dealers. Now I don't know if I should wait for an 04 or not; but I just got a call from the salesman I was working with at LIBERTYVILLE ACURA, his name is Garry Hansel.

He told me I could come in today, and pay only $1000 over invoice! Should I hedge my bets and assume the 04's will get discounted too, or take advantage of this...

BTW I told Arlington Acura and Woodfield (close to my house) about this and the in no uncertain terms said they didn't believe me...

Advice?????????

Hi SmcS:

___If it were me, I would wait. The 04 has enough reported upgrades that it is not only a depreciation issue you will be considering but one of safety as well. That being said, the 04’s will be discounted in similar amounts soon enough.

___$1K over invoice will be a record and coming from Acura of Libertyville, its amazing! This is a great deal but if I were you, I would wait. I purchased mine from AoL for a then unheard of $1,500 under MSRP here in the Chicagoland area when Mueller, Rohrman, Carr’s, and McGrath were still asking for MSRP. I have heard more Acura commercials on the radio from these dealerships in the past week than I have ever heard before so a glut appears to be building and I doubt the 04’s will be hard to find 2 to 3 months after release. There is simply too much competition for the X to hold its own IMHO.

LOL ----

The dealer already called me and told me not to post about my good deal on acuramdx.org!!!!!

They said that it is just btw me & them...

Apparantly someone saw my post and already called asking for the same deal?

I gather they don't intend to make a habit out of offering these "deals"...

You'll see some good discounts on 2003's. When the 2004's first come out, they'll be priced much closer to MSRP, and after a few months, you'll see good discounts on them too. Unfortunately that means someone waiting now, who wants a heavy discount, is going to have to wait for the 2004's to not only release, but get the pent-up wait for it out.

Hi ScmS:

___AoL didn’t even know about AcuraMDX.org until a few months ago … If a deal was offered to you, they will offer it to the next guy as well. They don’t give a hoot who it is they offered a price to as long as they can move those X’s off their lot. This is car dealer 101 and with supply, the offers are being made to move em now!

___In any case, I know of a guy that received a $2K under MSRP from them earlier this year and your deal coming just before the 04’s release won’t mean you will not get an 04 for a similar deal soon afterwards. Sure there will be some supply constraints for those pre-ordering 04’s but that in turn will pass. I am certainly glad to hear the AoL is dealing like none of the others. It should make your buying experience a little more pleasant. Say hello to Glenn Bockwinkel for me while you are there. He wasn’t our salesperson or closure guy but is one of the co-owners. He gave me some great deals after the fact at the owners clinic and I greatly appreciated not only the offers but his candor about AoL’s 01/02 X sales practices and how they would hopefully change their customer service and business model to improve the overall car buying experience. I know I had little to do with how they sell Acura’s today but with enough squeaky wheels, someone was bound to listen ;)

Baranco in Atlanta shows 14 Xs in stock. Not sure if good deals are available, too.

Hi Catzx6:

___I had an X on order through Baranco down in hotlanta for $1500 under MSRP before AoL came through earlier this year. I believe they had 19 on the lot way back when … In any case, they were cordial in my contacts with them and hopefully they are just as willing to deal as anyone else would given the various Lux SUV choices many have available to them today.
