| My MDX is in the shop right now getting several performance tweaks that should put it a little under 300hp once done. The mods will be internal (pumps, pulleys, pistons, cpu). I'm going to need a freer exaust to handle the new gains. Anyone know where I can purchase an extra OEM muffler for the dual exausts? Anybody want to sell their muffler? I'm thinking of keeping the mufflers stock. thanks |

manus1980,
the Acura OEM mufflers are quite restrictive and heavy. If you are going to fabricate a dual exhaust system, why not go with some nice aftermarket stainless steel mufflers? |

The "standard" for measuring "restrictiveness" of a muffler is an air bench that measures pressure drop across the muffler.
On any muffler made in the last ten years their is virtually no pressure drop -- even vehicles like Lincoln Town Cars and such have low-restriction exhausts for maximum fuel economy...
Now, if you like the looks or the sound of an aftermarket muffler, that is a different story...

| renov8r, You seem very knowledgeable about cars:6: Do you mind me asking what your background is and where you get all this knowledge from. I have read several of your post over the past 2 months and you have great responses that to me just make sense, after I have read it. Something I would never know or even have an original thought or opinion on you got an informative response. Tanks for all your input to my limited auto knowledge;) |

| I was thinking of replacing all the pipeing with something of a larger diameter. I was told I could possibly lose my low end if I did that, so I'm going to stick with the same diameter and just take out a couple bends and add another exaust. I don't want my exaust to be anymore audible then it is now. |
