Father-in-law of a guy who i know just ordered 2004 mdx.
he said that he couldnt even negotiate because no one knew the price, even the dealer. And the salesman only mentioned little front and inside design changes and 265 horse power. But the dealer wasnĄ¯t sure about anything, i guess. |

I am in a similiar situation. I just spoke to the dealer about the 04 and they said I can order one for end of October delivery. $500 deposit and the price will be msrp. I asked that they put in writing that I will only take delivery if curtain airbag is added. Otherwise I want my deposit refunded. They have to get back to me on that.
Do you normally lose your deposit if you don't buy the car?
BTW, the only thing they knew was the 265hp. |

| Deposit policy varies by dealer, but I wouldn't put a deposit down at any dealer that was not 100% refundable and put in writing. |

I would stay away from a dealer who does not offer a refundable deposit (in writing). The deposit is there to show that you are serious and willing to put up some money to show it. The only time I could see a dealer having a non-refundable deposit is if you are ordering something with an odd combination of options that they feel they might get stuck with.
Last time I checked, dealers were not having a problem being stuck with MDX's. |

It's always safer to have things in writing but if price is not even mentioned or known there is no verbal contract and they do not have any basis in claiming that a deposit cannot be refunded. BTW, I totally agree about the airbags. |

| My deposit was also $1000.00, and was completely refundable. If the dealer even hesitates about weather the deposit is refundable or not, go to another dealer IMHO. |

I think it's too late now. :p my deposit was $500 in late '01. 265hp, woohoo, maybe 0-60 in 7.7 or 1/4mile in 16flat!All you need is cold air intakes, sports headers, and a shortshifter to burn that damn FX35. :2: |
