I want to know what you think of them if you have one and if you could let me know how much time it would take a dealer to put one on?

Took me about 30 minutes. They're cool

About 10 mins and it makes such a difference. I would go for it.

Took about 15 mins doing it myself. It looks cool with the rack and the rear spoiler.

I echo the sentiments above. I recommend it.:4: Took about 20 min.

Definate improvement in reducing wind noise on the Touring model...took me 16 minutes-24 seconds.

A few month after I got my 2001, I put one on and after driving with it for a few weeks, I took it off to compare before and after, so to speak.

I then put it back on for good. It is a wise investment.

It helps during rain also. So I drove with the moonroof open.... until it came to a stop. Boy, I definitely got it :2:

... I'm thinking of a moonroof visor now. A couple of questions:

1) For those who like the Moonroof Visor; how much do you like and and why? Is it a can't live without or just a nice extra?

2) For those who do not like it; why not? Is it a looks or a performance issue?

Can you give some specific reasons, you consider it a wise investment? Thanks.

Nice addition. My experience it cuts wind noise about half with the moonroof open.

... however some say it increases noise when the moonroof is in the closed position (see other reactivated thread).

I wouldn't even think about opening the sunroof at highway speeds without the deflector before I purchased from Tim. I feel it cuts the wind noise about 70%. Note that it makes a completely different type of wind noise as well. I felt that without the deflector I would hear whistles and such but with the deflector it is just a medium "howl".

... we rarely open the moonroof above 30 mph:rolleyes: My concern is how much louder will the MDX be on the highway (moonroof closed) with the visor than without it?? Apparently Casique thought it to be too loud and removed it.

Its no louder than your roof rack on the highway, and you cannot remove your roof rack.
DaleB
I have not noticed any increase in noise with it closed. And remember the roof rack was repositioned in 2002 to reduce noise.

No way,

It took me close to 4.6 hours installing the thing and I the next thing I knew I installed it backwards. Then I noticed that it cut down on my drafting as I was trying to catch up to Earnhardt and Stewart. Lost alot of speed due to the aerodynamics and me hangin my head out the hole looking at the crowd while I was going the wrong way on the track.

Just kidding GET ONE. Your kid can install it.
Good luck, Ordering all my stuff from TIMMY Boy when our $$$$ comes from ole Uncle Sam. George Bush visits our town Tomorrow.

Actually I DID remove the roof rack from our '01 MDX and it helped the highway noise some. Houston heat is such that we do not open the moonroof much anyway and I do not like the look of the visor w/o the roofrack, thus a visor was never a consideration on the '01.

The '04 is so much quieter than the '01 that I see no need to remove the roofrack and I do like the look of the visor with the rack on - however like Casique I do not want to sacrifice noise for looks.

Yep thats why the rack will stay on the '04 and was removed from the '01. I do not like the visor look w/o the rack, however the visor looks good along with the rack - but like Casique I don't want to sacrifice looks for noise:rolleyes:

With Houston's temperate climate (yea right - I meant 100 degree high humidity summers) the moonroof is not opened a lot anyway.

Don't hesitate. Get it.

I like to drive with the windows down and the sunroof open, I feel it enhances the "driving experience". My wife on the other hand prefers everything closed becasue it causes too much noise. We owned a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD with a sunroof and no visor,it was unbearably loud, therefore the only time it was ever open was when we were in town driving less than 35...booring!!!! When we purchased our X we had the dealer installed visor... I liked the looks and hoped it would help with the noise. It was definitely worth it. She actually likes it open all the time, even on the highway. The factory one is very solid, well built and looks soooo cool!

There are still very few X's in Texas parking lots, at least in my mpart of SW Houston. Mine is quite distinctive with the custom painted pinstrips, BSM and Steps  :1:

Hey msu79gt82 show me a pic of your pinstripe. I was thinking about it but I'm not quite sure if I will like it. I'm hoping to get some pics of my new MD this weekend since the rain has finally moved out. Now if I can just find the charger to the digi-cam.....
