Here are the pictures of my cable routing and the mouse receiver location. It looks pretty clean but still is portable.

I-Trek mouse receiver on the left corner with the suction cup to hold it down.

Cable from receiver runs down along the dashboard.

Nice going purdue1...

Installed a new constant power outlet with a switch to turn on/off. The outlet also comes with a cap to plug when not in used. It's hard to see but the GPS cable is the coil one and it has the plug has a little Green LED when it's on.

The cable then comes up to the Toshiba E335 PPC with the Arkon vent mount holder (came free from semsons).

And here is the picture from driver view. GPS includes I-Trek mouse receiver, Toshiba E335 PPC with 256MB SD card, Arkon vent holder, Iguidance Navigation software and cable to connect from PPC to receiver and to 12V outlet.

Hi Purdue1:

___I ran my i.Trek based mouse receiver up to the left of the rear view mirror, opposite the rain sensor. The only cabling seen is what is shown in the pic. The main receiver cabling runs from the Rain sensor cable opening, under the passenger side headliner, down and under the passenger side A-Pillar cowling, behind the dash side panel, under and behind the dash and the final PS2 cabling runs out above the RES unit as shown. I did have to purchase a 6’ PS2 to PS2 extension to complete the reroute but the i.Trek stays very cool as well as reaching its maximum sensitivity vs. where I used to have it sitting on the dash when it would get extremely hot from normal sunlight during the day. There is also enough cabling left above the DVD RES unit for the wife to pull the HP iPAQ 2215 from the Panavise holder and into her hands for programming while still connected to the GPS receiver and while sitting in the passenger seat if she so chooses. The Panavise and its Clip Caddy pin arrangement is extremely robust. So much so that I can program the iPAQ from the driver’s position without any movement of the PDA. The Panavise mount is also angled perfectly as the iPAQ faces directly at me and with either the large or small format directionals shown clear enough from the driver’s perspective for even city navigation. Disconnection of the synch cabling takes less than a second and the iPAQ releases from the Panavise simply by lifting it off the Panavise’s pin connection in the rear. Now that the i.Trek cabling is a bit more flexible, even less of the power and synch cabling shows. My wife’s Motorola i90 cell has a lot more cabling exposed so that now connects into the center consoles power connection and out using the pre-cut cable routing through it.

___As for my SW of choice, Mapopolis 4.xx previously and 4.23 as of yesterday with its excellent voice guidance and almost weekly program updates leading the way. I have Mapopolis activate the GPS at program start when the iPAQ is plugged in thus I am in NAVI mode whenever attached. It worked spectacular from IL. to Colorado Springs, Colorado and then down to Phoenix, AZ. as well as a straight path back home again. That and the tens of other places I have found locally (the City proper as well as homes and locations throughout much of East, West, and Southern Chicago burbs) while using it. I will never ever again be without a GPS NAVI solution for any trip taken in the future.

Hi Purdue1:

___Sorry for the blurry pic. I really should take a new one … Here is the i.Trek mouse based receiver to the left of the rear view although I now have it much tighter up against the headliner and black double-sticked to the rear view mirrors housing horizontal to receive those tough to see birds in the rear.

___Good Luck

Hi Xcel,
You're right about the heat from the sun during the day. I just put the receiver down by the RPM meter. I like the sturdiness of your Panasive mount but I like the location of the PPC at eye level. Can't win it all. I don't like it's blocking the vent either. I'd to keep the receiver portable so my wife can use it in her car and we'd like to take it with us when we fly. Last month we went to CA and the PPC GPS was great. We just drove everywhere without a map or mapquest.
