Hi folks,
I finally found some time this past weekend to take the Zaino plunge, for real!
I have the ZFX, Z2, Z5, Z6, Z7, and the clay bar.
First I washed the X with Dawn. Then I started to clay bar it...my goodness that took a long time but I stuck to it...it's easy to stick to it since the results are fantastic.
Then I washed the car again with Z7.
Mixed ZFX with Z2 then waxed.
After 30 minutes buffed it up and finished it off with Z6.
Holy cr*p!!! The surface is so slick now. I have never seen my X look this good!!!!!!
Yesterday I started working on my 99 3.2 TL. But after clay baring the front and the back (very tough things on my car), I got tired so I will do the rest this week. I'm looking forward to seeing how Zaino will do with this white car that is slightly older than my X.
The clay bar is a miracle bar! I had what I thought was a scuff mark left by some idiot driver on my front right bumper. I worked on it with the clay bar for 5 to ten minites and now it's gone.
You wanna hear something painful though? After leaving the pristine looking X overnite in front of my garage, I needed to use the X Sunday morning. So I was backing it up. I have a very narrow driveway and my stupid neighbors put up a brick divider with black metal fencing on their side of the property so it's really narrow now. As I was backing up I hear a crunching noise. I figure it was my tires or whatever...but it turned out to be my passenger side mirror! Major scuff mark to the black plastic...no way to clay bar that out. OUCH!@#$
So I had a touchup pen handy so I touched it up but you guys know that it just doesn't look that good with the touchup.
I hate my neighbors :D
Anybody can give me a suggestion as to how to better the crappy touchup of my side mirror?
Maybe I should get a replacement? But where??? |

You guys are funny.
Darth, you are scaring me with your Jedi mind tricks.
I plan on putting a coat of Z5, then another Z2 very soon...maybe by that time I will have my new 4.1 Mega Pixel Digi Cam.
Until then...SORRY

Got my Zaino kit over the weekend, did Dawn -> Claybar -> Z7 Wash -> Z5+ZFX -> Z6 -> Z5+ZFX -> Z6 so far.
Question is do I need to wash my X again before I put on Z2+ZFX? (X is kept indoor) I've read here that some of us Zainoed 6 coats? (combo of Z5 and Z2) |

| Yes, wash with the Z wash soap, NOT Dawn.......Washing with Zaino stuff is soft and gentle, keep applying coats. The more the better ! |

| Will multiple coats last through the winter season? This is my first year using it and 3 months easily to keep beading. |

I too plan on treating my "baby" to its first treatment in the next week. I am sure it will look real great, from all that I have read on this board.
My question - if I do it now, how long will the treatment last before it needs to be redone? I plan on being in southern Florida for the winter and would prefer taking as little "extra stuff" with me. Which specific items would I have to bring with me? |

I have an answer for you if you have an answer for me:
Yes you should wash with Z7 before another coat of Z2/ZFX (I usually do two coats of Z2/ZFX with Z6 in between and also after).
My question:
I did a full Zaino Initial Process (ZIP) on my brand new tiny Mazda RX-8. The steps were similar to yours:
Dawn wash -> Claybar -> Z7 wash -> Z6 -> Z5/ZFX -> Z6 -> Z2/ZFX -> Z6
It took me over 8 hours! I am too scared to attempt anything on the MDX which has 5 times the surface area. How long did it take you?
BTW I use Z5/ZFX on my red RX-8 first because Sal recommends it instead of Z2/ZFX on black/blue/red cars (or cars with scratches/swirl marks) prior to a final coat of Z2/ZFX.
A few weeks later I did a standard Zaino session on my RX-8:
Z7 wash -> Z6 -> Z5/ZFX -> Z6 -> Z2/ZFX ->Z6
which only took 3 hours - perhaps this will scale to 6 hours for the MDX at my slow pace... |
