This is a very common problem with the HP3200. HP is so cheap because it bases all its fascimiles off of there old outdated analog copiers. It isn't even a real multi-function, just two machines joined by the hip that share little if any multitasking with eachother. I use to fix the HP. Xerox has I-Fax, which uses your LAN to fax which is more reliable, faster, and completly FREE eliminating your business-to-business phone charges! In addition the M15 will let you send and receive faxes simultaneously. Also check out scan-to-email that allows you to scan any document and turn it into a PDF or TIFF and email it to whomever. Good luck getting HP to help you with your problem. If you want to fix your problem do the following;
1) Call up your local Xerox sales agent
2) Ask about trading in your HP3200 for credit towards the lease or purchase of an M15 with maintenance & montly supplies included
3) The result will be improved productivity with a decrease in your document management lease payments you have now!
Xerox comes with a total satisfaction guarantee, so if you aren't completly satisfied, Xerox will either give you a new machine or reimburse you without delay. Xerox is the only company that holds its own guarantees and lease papers. HP and all the other work through 3rd parties :3:
Good luck |

I only use my HP to fax and print. It's been perfect. Today I have two customers can't send me fax.
Both of the two customers can send and receive from others. I can send and receive from others except these two.
Why? |

Just went on Xerox.com
M15 can only print and copy. |

| The M15 can do everything, you just need to configure/build it, like picking options for the MDX. Check out the M15i. This way you get exactly what you want without having to pay extra. It just came out a couple months ago and is Xerox's 7th generation digital. HP is still on their first generation, no comaring the two. |

Taiwanese,
Small desktop footprint, with big office features -- copy, print, color scan, and fax -- in a single device
It also has duplex scanning, copying, faxing, pringing (double sided) with nearly unlimited job storage
http://www.office.xerox.com/perl-bi...product=WC_M15i
This is BY FAR the best multifunction on the market and I've worked with them all and know all the products out there. You can't go wrong with this for small volume personal and office use. Not only will the initial purchase or lease save you money once you trade in your dying HP, it will save you thousands each year in supplies(toner), electricity (power saver), phone bills, and increase productivity so you won't have to deal with problems and upset customers who can't fax you. If the M15 prints out an error of any kind, Xerox will credit you cash for that error. |

On my now-ancient Brother multifunction, there was a specific setting for overseas transmissions. I assume it does something to handle the lag-time or echo, and possibly modifies the error correction routine. Does your unit have a setting like that?
(just guessing) |

manus1980,
Thanks for all the input.
What if I just want to get a fax only machine, what would you recommend?
I may keep the HP to print since we don't print that much on this one. We have three other printers in the office.
What's the defference between lower end machine (brother 2800 $229) vs. high end machine ($1000)? I know the high end machine send it at higher speed (33.6), carry more paper, more ram? What else?
Thanks again for your time.......:2: |

Taiwanese,
The best advice I can give you is to combine all your outdated, non-networked units into a single networked multifunction that will save you a fortune on overhead and productivity. As I said, Xerox is the best choice because they lead in technology with straight paper paths and fewer moving parts. If you want just a fax check out the work centre pro575 Xerox machines. They feature two line input so you can send and receive faxes simulataneously as well as I-fax for free. Again, save you self some aggrevation, time, and money and go for the M15i. Trade in all your crap for it.
The large units are for work groups, such as a small office in which every computer is networked to the machine. These machines have large monthly duty cycles, faster print output, larger paper capacities, and finishing features. For you needs you don't need to the extra cost of a high end document centre or high end Work Centre Pro, unless you require color output, then ask Xerox to bundle in a Phaser with your M15i. Hope this helps |

Taiwaneses,
Notice that if you just need a fax with the built in fax scanning and printing features go with a Work Centre Pro 575, but the output speed and quality for printing and scanning won't be quite as good as the M15i but it does cost several hundred dollars less then the M15i. |

Will this solve my problem -- only some customers can't fax to me
Is it the HP or phone line? What's wrong? |
|
|
| manus1980 |
| The problem is your HP, there is nothing wrong with the fax number if it works for other people. It is rediculous to have to change the settings for different customers and not be able to fax others. It is hurting your business. |

Thanks for all your reply and time.
I moved the fax to another phone line and everything went OK. The two customers CAN fax me.
So I know the phone line is bad not my HP. Called SBC yesterday around 2pm and they showed up at 5pm. The line was crossed some where. SBC fixed it.
Now everything is back to normal. I am happy.:2:
I will look into Xerox when we redo all of our office machines. |

Do you know anything about accounting software?
We are using Peachtree. We can't spend 10k for MAS90.
Is there anything else cheaper? |
|
|
| manus1980 |
| As far as accounting software goes, I heard good things about Norton. I don't know enough about this subject to help you all that much. The software for 10k is worth it if it helps you save 20k. Purchase the equipment with the petty cash :2: |
