For me it goes back over 20 years, to when I was in highschool.

My first car was '76 Skylark coupe -- the crummy economy style one with a V6. It had the typical vinyl seats, light blue semi-metalic body with a white painted hardtop. It was always garaged. When I got it the paint was in great shape, I just waxed it with KIT.

Then we got an 81 Regal. It was dark blue metalic over light blue metalic, with a landau top. I used MALMS on it all the time, it was more work than KIT but it looked awesome.

The "tips"page at Malms is STILL excellent advice: http://www.malms.com/tips.html

I don't know if Zaino has "Amino-Functional Silicones", but I sure hope not...

We hand washed our MBP MDX this past Sunday. It was QUITE a chore, as I had to spend half an hour rounding up my buckets, wash mitts, brushed, water blade, towels et cetera et cetera...

No time to clay it. Just smeared on the Mequirs HiTech Yellow Paste, it is OK stuff that has lasted for me before. Was sweating like a BEAST!

HOW THE HECK do you manage to do a good job on the roof? I was moving my two-step stool around over & over, I was thinking of draggin out some LADDERS & PLANKS!!

I'll probably do the "Zaino Plunge" after regular 'football weather' hits... :D

yeah, yeah I know --- :needpics: -- I'll owrk on it!

Maybe instead of Zaino you could try BlackFire I've read its about the same reflection, just gives the paint more warmth.

I use Meguiar's Gold Class liquid wax with a Sears 10" orbital buffer for both application and buffing off. It takes about 2-3 hours after it has been washed and dried. Since I've been driving for 51 years, and have been "waxing" for darn-near that long, it was about 20 years ago that I decided to try the orbital buffer. What a lifesaver!!!:18: I'm fairly tall (6'4"), and use a portable storage case/stool to stand on for doing the roof.
