What is the best kit out there for HID conversion kit for the MDX? Does the headlights need to be re-aligned once the HID is installed? I am looking for Daylight kit like the 3.2 TL

Thanks!!!!

Ask 10 people and you will probably get 10 different answers. A couple of reputable dealers are xenondepot and hid-online. Do a search, there are many more options as well. Catz makes a pretty good kit from what I've heard, too.

I will throw in HIDS4less as well. There was an order a while back, and some members were unhappy because they were out of bulbs....and the members were right that there was a delay......but when I got mine I was amazed. Very happy.

And YES, you will need to re-aim the lights. In effect, you also lose your high beans (as their aim is tied to the lows). But you will not need highs anymore:4:

I too have HIDS4less Stage II HIDs on mine and year to date am EXTREMELY happy with it.

HOWEVER...am currently looking into projection beams for my MDX with Stage II HIDS. There is a company that will take your headlights and fabricate projector HIDS for you similar to the BMW X5 and Mercedes...The Projector gives you a more TRUE HID beam. This is a little more pricier than just converting Halogen to HIDS bulbs in your current Halogen Mercury based headlights.

Fireblade,

keep the group apprised on how that goes please. Sounds like a good approach, although I can't picture them any brighter. I have the BMW Bi-Xenons, and they are not close to the HIDS4Less in brightness. Have a good beam though

I got mine from http://www.hidkits.com/
My HIDs on my MDX match my 2000 3.2 TL exactly and I did not even need to adjust them. I have never gotten flashed by any other drivers. I am very happy with them and the installation was very simple and trouble free.

I used the www.Hids4less.com people. They were great.

I did the McCulloch thing at g-garage. Probably the easiest to install with fewer connections and no relays. Very good quality.
One member did have have a ballast go south though.
The pedigree of the parts is a bit unknown, but mine has been humming along very nicely for a year now. Very happy with them.

Stay away from Bohmen, and some others which are off brand systems others on some forums had problems with.
If customer service is very important to you, and should be, go with Xenondepot, they have been very helpful on the forum.

Thankyou all for the information. In the HID4Less webpage I could not find a kit for the 2003 MDX, when I select the 2002 model it shows the kit for only the 9005 bulb, not the 9006. Also could some one enlighten me with the kelvin information? What is the kelvin needed for the original look of the TL?

Thanks!! You guys rock!! :4:

Could you tell me the company which converts the mdx to projector beam headlights? Thanks!!

Maybe I should ask the person who sells the original headlight unit in bulk on ebay ;-)

They have the 9006 for sure, just give a call and touch base directly.

check out www.illusion-lighting.com. You will need to send them your headlights or a second set of headlights and for $800, you will have xenon projectors (bulbs, ballasts, projectors and labor all included). If I had the cash, I would do it.

Are you happy with the 4100 Philips HID? Wouldnt that have the same light output like the 3.2 TL? Thanks!

Jswift2000 beat me to replying to you. Illusion LIghting is the company am planning on havind my projectors done.

Hey guys...Off the topic question: Would you buy a dealer certified used BMW 540i or a spanking brand new Acura TSX?

Thanks!
radwar
I had driven the TSX as a loaner for a couple of days before I got my MDX. It is awsome. I would get that instead of the beamer. I had test driven the 540 (2001 model) once and didnt like it that much....
BLACK-BLING-MDX
sorry, stupid question, what year is the 540i?

Just received this email from that company:

Cost to retrofit your housings for phase 2 is $800 + shipping, $1100 + shipping for phase 3. You would not be able to use your 9006 bulbs, however your ballast might be reusable. If your ballast is the single wire twist on type, it should be reuseable.

Holy Cow!! Expensive mod!!!!

Hi Paul’s MDX:

___At those prices, I think you might be waiting for the 04 X’s retrofit if it does in fact come with self leveling projector lens equipped HID’s …

___Good Luck

That is pricey but remember that any projector, halogen or xenon, is better than reflector lenses. Therefor, to cut down on cost, you could have them do a halogen projector that will use a 9006 bulb and then place your existing xenon retro kit in that housing. Keep in mind that if the MDX comes with xenon projectors, you will need to buy new blulbs (maybe new ballasts) as well as the new headlights. I think either routre is going to be expensive.

Black Bling...am thinking about looking at a 2000 BMW 540i, BMW dealer certified versus the TSX.
