if anyone had installed the deflector from Manufacture or from Tim, can you comment on the spacing of the edges..i felt that the deflector could of stretch a little longer on each side ( i don't really like the gap from the left & right side pics above)...

I am thinking about picking up that same spoiler. Looks pretty good to me.

Paul's MDX
It's looks sweet, did you have to drill holes in the hatch to mount?? Is it possible just double stick tape holding??

i'd think it wouldnt be enough support to hold it in place.. when u start driving it'd fly off... specially on the highway! accident just waiting to happen!

I installed the painted Acura Tailgate Deflector on my MDX. It does indeed stretch and touches flush to the edge of the sheet metal. But then again, you did get your's at a much cheaper price than the OEM deflector. I don't think the casual observer would be able to tell the difference.:29:

No way double stick tape would hold with all that down force. You really need to take a deep breath, concentrate and drill four small holes into your MDX to properly mount the tailgate deflector, no matter what brand you choose.:4:

I have the Texasdar and it too is just slighlty less than flush, but only if you look for it.
Overall fit and finish is flawless.
And oh yes, you definitely want to use the screws not double-sided tape.

yeah, double tape wouldn't cut it...the hole isn't all that bad...i started by using little drill bit and work my way up...i also used foam washer so i don't scratch the paint..

Nice!

Is the deflector an aesthetic item or does it actually have a function. If so, how well does it perform in the rain and snow keeping the rear window clean?

Wilmar,

The tailgate deflector is functional in that it will tend to keep the dust from setttling on your rear window. For the most part, it is an aesthetic accessory that makes the MDX look sportier. By know means does the tailgate deflector increase mileage or performance.:4:

Hi All:

___After I installed the painted rear tailgate deflector, the X’s hwy mileage went to ~ 28 - 29 mpg. I don’t know what it was before the installation because I never got to drive the X in its first few months of ownership ;) Unfortunately, the wife still gets about 22-23 on the Hwy both before and after the deflector’s installation :(

___On a more serious note, it is a purely esthetic addition but you can tell those that customize their X’s exterior to the nth degree from those that don’t from a quite a distance. I rarely see an X with a Rear Tailgate Deflector, Form Fit Front Deflector, Chromed Side Steps, or a Hitch and Harness in my neck of the woods … I do see quite a few X’s w/ OEM based Running boards however?

___Good Luck

trimking has dropped the price of the spoiler to $146 + $24 shipping. This is my next accessory or the front air deflector.

That's a good 'single' price. May want to compare with Texasdar on group prices too if a bunch of you want to jump in. It is a nice accessory for the money.
You have to call Texasdar but they always like to deal. And the overall quuality is superb.
