I just wanted your opinion on what might have happened.

I was on my lunch break at work and wanted to get away from the people around me and decided to sit in my X and listen to the radio. --ignition off btw--

About 45min later I notice that the front speakers cut out and only the rear ones worked. I immediately turned the car off and since I then realized that having the ignition off was draining the battery. I tried to turn it on again but all it did was make a strange clicking sound when I tried to get it to turn over.

I tried to get out using the power door lock...but they would not work. The dome light was still on though...and when the battery is drained in other cars I have had, there is no clickingit just does not come on. But anyways...

I manually got myself out of the car and stood outside pondering my situation (I had left my cell phone at home so I would have to go inside to call TLC). I tried one last ditch effort to turn it on after about 5min and viola it turned on...

I let the car run for about 5min before I went back to work, and all has been well since.

I was wondering if you all thought that this was simply a battery issue?

Should I take this to the dealer?

Oh and as a side note...when was the first time you had your oil changed...is it 3000...or 7500 miles?

I would say a battery or alternator issue with charging. The clicking when you went to start told you that there wasn't enough amps to start. Listening to the radio and possibly having the dome light drained the battery down. The question is why, I don't believe the time frame you sat in the vehicle was really excessive to drain the battery, which means the battery was weak to start with? or an issue with your alternator not charging and keeping the battery where it should be? I would bring to Acura to have them "Load Test" the battery and check the charging of the alternator. Good Luck.

i'm guessing his mdx is new since he is a new member and the battery may not have been charged all the way... same thing happened to me while i was in the showroom checkin out my X... don't worry everything will be fine, but dont listen to the radio w/o the car on... i know it sucks, but what else can you do?

Looks like you have a defective battery. It happens. Sometimes cars are shipped with new batteries but because of storage or whatever, the lead acid batteries were drained. The dealer probably recharged it and sold you the car.

NOTE: once a lead acid battery is drained to dead, it can never ever be recharged to full capacity again; you need a new battery (which is covered by the warranty). That is why, when your car dies because the alternator dies while you are driving and the care finally coasts and stalls you need a new battery with a new alternator.

hotmdxman: take the X back to the dealer for a new battery.
