Hey All:
I ordered a 2004 Touring w/Nav and Res NHB on Ebony on 9/04/03. After checking the board today I noticed the 2004 pricing. Obviously very pleased to see an increase of only $700.00. Anyway, I was playing around on Acura's site and noticed the following interior accessory:
Hands-Free Cellular Phone Interface ($199)
It may just be my personal opinion becuase I drive so much, but this could be HUGE!!! :D
The website mentions that the kit, installed in the center console, will mute the radio and "play" the call through the right front speaker. Isn't this the cellular phone solution we have all been waiting for???
I guess the question is will this really be available and what phones will the system accept. They show it with an older, brick like Nokia that I have no intention of downgrading to. I am currently using a Motorola v60.
Has anyone made any inquiries into this or heard any news on it??? Much appreciated if someone could post some insight or knowledge. :)
Off the subject a bit, I am struggling with the color selection. I went with NHB, but everytime I get a balck car, I regret it a week later. I plan on keeping this car for quite some time and am starting to wonder if I made a mistake. My dealer said I could switch colors now and I am wondering about Sage Brush Pearl. Can those who have it provide some feedback as to the color and if they are happy with it? When I notice a "gray" MDX on the road, I always love the color and say that is what I want. However, it looks "gray" and I can't tell if it is the SBP. My dealer said it does look very "gray" and I will hopefully see some Acura model in that color shortly. However, if I like it, I am then worried about the interior. What has been the collective experience with the quartz leather interior versus the ebony? I find that the lighter gray leather gets dirty real easily and is harder to clean.
Any thoughts...??? :awais:
Thanks for the help. |

| I swore I'd never buy another black car, but I couldn't get past the tan and grey interior ! I ONLY go with Black, since its best for investment reasons ! So black interior are limited to what color you can get with ALL the bells and whistles.....So I bought the Black/Ebony ! :p |

Black - for most cars/SUVs no other color looks better IMHO but no other color is as hard to take care of either. I didn't want black because of the up keep so our next choice and the one we ended up with was....
Sage Brush Pearl - This is a GREAT color. In certain light it looks completely gray and in others it has a major green cast to it. The best thing - it's super easy to maintain. I've never had a dark colored car that shows so little dirt/dust. I washed my wife's MDX two weeks ago and I was going to wash it again yesterday but it still looked so good I decided not to. I'm not sure if it's the bright flakes in the paint or what but unlike other dark colors this color seems to continue to shine. :2: One other thing about SBP is it only comes with the Quartz interior but that was fine with us because we liked the gray interior look.
Good luck with your decision! |

| I have a brand new '03 Sage Brush Pearl and absolutely love it. I have gotten many comments specifically about "what a cool color that is" and how good the MDX looks in it. I also happen to love the Quartz interior - looks very classy. Good luck! |

Thanks for all the feedback. I saw a few SBP and NHB X's on the drive home last night and the drive in this morning. I like them both, but I know the black is a huge chore to maintain. Between work, family, house and life I do not have time to wax on, wax off :2: and the car will basically get a car wash here and there. I am sort of resigned to the balck not looking its best.
I love the sage color, but I do worry about the interior. My Pathfinder (over 3 years old) goes back in three weeks and the interior, a very dark gray, looks brand new. My Audi, not even two years old, has a light gray interior, and the carpets, etc look dirty from oil stains and grime. I am so bummed they didn't offer an ebony interior on the SBP. :(
Anyway, I am going to head over to a dealer tonight and try to see a SBP and the interior in person. I need to let my dealer know about switching the color... man, this is a pain.
All in all, with the slight redesigns and some new accex, I am REALLY psyched for this vehicle. I am a bells and whistles kind of guy, and this car seems to have them all. :awais:

I have the 03 Sage Brush Pearl and I had toyed with the idea of getting black until I saw the SBP in the daylight. What a great color! Depending on how the light hits it and at what angle, it sometimes has flecks of green that highlight it, some blue, and some a deep grey. Really shines nicely and I think is easier to keep clean than black. Before you decide, look at one in the daylight.

After heading over to Curry Acura yesterday and stalking around the dealer lot... I made my decision.
To those who "voted" for the Nighthawk Black, my initial color selection, thanks... but not thanks. :behead:
While I love black cars and my Audi is black, it is just too much trouble. More so than the difficulty of keeping it clean, the Sage Brush Pearl is AWESOME!!! :18:
I saw a handful of them lined up next to the black ones in the sunlight and the SUV looks great in this greenish / gray color. From various angles it looked slightly different and even with the cars slightly dirty from the day's rain, the SBP still looked clean. The NHB were streaky and showed too much dust.
My dealer said it shouldn't delay my getting the vehicle in mid to late November, so I'm going to change the order. The interior quartz is a touch light for my taste, but the exterior color is the key. I appreciate all the feedback and "guidance" in this process. The good news is, my wife prefers the SBP, and that is one less thing I will get grief over. :mblah:
Now I just need to find out about the handsfree cell phone kit.
